I interviewed for a TPM position and the results came back that I didn’t meet the tech bar. Now I get offer as “Program managers, software engineering”. So I have a few questions: 1. Is this still considered a tech role? 2. The team I’m going to work at is 100% tech, ie no media, no sales. Is there a way to get my “T” back in front of pm? 3. Is it a bad career path? YOE: 15 yr PM TC: currently 🥜, offer @260

Program manager is nothing about tech, no? It is about business use case and how can the app fit it. To understand what people ask for and what they need. You were given a role without understanding what it is about? TPM is only about jira etc., project management, no?
Lmao no. TPM is not about jira. Jira is everyone’s responsibility or the project manager if you have one of those. TPM is about user interviews, product specs, customer focused API designs (but not the internal apis or implementation), feature prioritization, keeping the product on track to deliver, and other things in conjunction with the tech lead.
Ok TPM at linkedin is different.
