Interviewed at Google last month Status: Rejected. Recruiter said, HC recommended to apply next year. YOE : currently new grad but previously worked 3 yrs back my country. Experience: Round 1: Solved intial problem quickly. But messed up with the follow up question. However gave the optimal solution at the very last moment and interviewer agreed with the solution. But did not have enough time for coding. Round 2: Topological Sort related. Interviewer was not responsive. Gave optimal solution and coding. Round 3: Two questions. Solved one but did not have enough time for the other one. Round 4: System design question. Finished early. Interviewer was really happy with solution. He praised me a lot and said, we are looking for smart people like you. Round 5: Backtracking question. Solved first question. We both walk through the solution with an example input. Then solved the follow up question. He agreed that i gave the optimal solution. It was a good experience for me considering my first on-site interview in a big company. Recruiter tried to sympathize me and told me not many people perform like you. Asked to contact her next year. She will arrange the interview again. Depressed and angry with myself. With a little bit more efforts I could have done it. Applied lots of companies but not getting response. It’s making me more depressed.
It's all part of the game.keep applying ( know it sucks without any response) , interviewing and improving your LC skills and you should be eventually where you want to be.
I am trying my best to improve my LC skills.
Apply to fb, msft, dbx, lnkdn, snap, pins, airbnb ... You will get at least one... All of these are excellent companies.. After some time come to Google.
Applying those companies. Hope I can manage one of those company.
How many LC have you solved?
I have been practicing LC for more than one year. Almost 500 ( mostly LC medium)h
Don't make a mockery of the word "depressed". Man up a bit.
Letting a company define who you are is bullshit. It does not matter if you are at X or Y if you make big bucks doing Z.
so 500 LC also doesn't guarantees a decent job! Damn! The hiring process is just getting more stiff!
It's not about about how many years you live but how you live
Not about how many you f**k..wait it is abt how many you f**k
Don't worry man, it's just a matter of time. Take the positives out of your experience. You will make it next time
Thank you for the encouraging message :)
