Haven't gotten promoted at Google yet (hopefully), but was curious to understand if the TC bump from leveling from 4 to 5 similar to actually joining as a 5. As an example when I got promoted in Amazon, I was very dissapointed because they gave me a 15% on base which really wasn't much bc I opted for more RSU when I joined. The reason I'm asking is, is it worth it to look for IC5 at other companies at this point? Or just stick with Google if I like the company?
Internal promo at G is way less than external hires with competing offers. Cuz you are considered ME in the next level
They allegedly correct the discrepancy within 2-4yrs unless u really do a terrible job.
Yes that’s true. But 2-4 years is a long time bro... Also that usually means another promotion which will most likely land you in the low band of next level... And that's yet another 2-4 years to catch up...
Get an offer from Apple, Fb or Netflix for E5, then go back to G after a year. Internal promotions are always less than external hires.
Yeah I'm highly considering this. I'm close to my promo but I feel like I'm putting a lot of effort it and the promo cycle so far has been slower than what I had hoped for. Boomeranging is not the worst idea.
If you leave at L4, odds are you'll come back as L4, even if you had SEE. If you're close DEFINITELY stick it out.
