Should I even have any doubts about growth in Google?

Google. Unless there's something about Atlassian that's really a draw for you. Perception wise, Google + Cloud + Capacity/Scale will open up more doors for you in your career, that's like bingo on any recruiter search.

What do you think bingo means? I'm talking about hitting keyword searches.

Bingo must be a US only game.

I wonder what it means in other countries though since it seems to be interpreted as a joke.

      Bing?

Bingo is a game. You get a board filled with numbers and letters (X by X dimensions). A person pulls out lottery balls and if it exists on your board you mark it. Bingo is won when a person gets a row that is fully marked like tic tac toe or connect four. The winner screams out Bingo letting people know they've won.

So in my reference, bingo with those terms means the resume would hit all the keywords recruiters search for.

Also to add, once upon a time I was interviewing for Atlassian and talking to the recruiter, and they proudly said that "some of our engineers have gone on to work for companies like Google, Facebook".

I already had an offer from Google at this point, so I didn't really even know what to say, it was pretty awkward.

Pretty dumb, since the head of recruiting at Atlassian is ex-Google. (Or maybe she moved on since.)

Damn. That's a quick turnaround time from start of thread to acceptance. Were you actually on the fence, or already decided but wanted to confirm what the crowd thinks?

I was on the fence. This thread and increased offer at google helped me decide fast. :)

Haha yeah I think itโ€™s an obvious choice based on external career growth after working at either company, salary & package and skill level of other developers though I do think Atlassian culture is better and if you were applying in Australia then benefits too.

You can always go from Google to Atlassian. The same canโ€™t be said the other way around.

There are advantages to working at some smaller companies; more nimble, more opportunities for growth, more interesting work.

Atlassian is not one of those companies.

Why is that? I considered an offer from them and liked the place. Too old? Not enough new innovation, growth, funding?

Google. No one has even come close to creating a better search algorithm nor does Atlassian have Googleโ€™s reach.

The bennies at Google are insane. My friend canโ€™t praise them highly enough - he left Microsoft after a decade and as a former Softie, I can tell you working at Microsoft was wonderful and the bennies were great.

Google also has offices in many locations if you ever want to go elsewhere.

      The standard way...
      1. Did some leetcode first as a warmup.
      2. Dedicated couple of days on each topic like Arrays, binary search, strings, linked list, trees and graphs.
      3. Did a lot of questions around bfs and dfs on both trees and graphs.
      4. Again started with leetcode practice. Focused on easy and medium only for start. At this stage, started interviews with other companies.
      5. Then looked at past google code jam questions. Just a few.

Interviewing with other companies will also help you negotiate for better with google.

Out of interest, what level would you have been hired at for Atlassian? You mentioned L4 for Google, but the offer sounds high for an Atlassian P4.

fwiw I would have taken Google too. As has already been alluded to, Atlassian has neither the benefits of a small company nor those of a giant. I joined when it was smaller and I was happy. It's changed.

True. Atlassian is no longer a small company. I would choose Google over Atlassian any day. Am not sure why is this even a question.
