Google vs Facebook employees

Google employees walked out in protest to voice their demands. When Google does unethical things, more than 1,000 employees sign letter calling on executives to review ethics and transparency.

Facebook employees just shut up and code. Why we never hear from them with all what is going on at Facebook?

Facebook employees are there to maximize their TC. Employees join Google in hopes to help build a better product and information infrastructure for the world that is secure and useful for all.

They're both the same. Employees move from one company to another

As an engineer who was at Google and is now as Facebook, they are basically the same company.

Worked at both. They’re basically the same company with the same people.

Maybe because FB doesn’t pay millions to sex offenders? Do you even know why Google employees protested?! Why do you assume all companies have this problem?!

We don't know if FB protected anyone, especially before the IPO stage.

Only time will tell. Pre IPO high impact employees tend to be protected because of how much can hinge on their able to deliver key projects.

yeah fb just rig election and ruins societies mental health and invades user privacy

Lol fb doesn't invade people's privacy like Google tho. Google takes it to a whole new level and tries to hide it. Doesn't even bend over backwards to be transparent and warn their users of the extent of their data collection/privacy invasion.... Also, Google arguably had a bigger hand in election stuff... Where do people search for info on politics? Google.

The fb employees I've talked to, care deeply about the users. They work hard to try to make things better and fix what's broken. Because they understand that the only way to things will improve is if there are a ton of good people who want to make things better, working hard and actually making things better. They're action-oriented.

Facebook employees meet their CEO every Friday and can openly raise their concerns in an unrestricted conversation with the M-team. IMO, they don’t need to walk out to start a change in the company as they have a better forum... unless they are republican of course.

But at least Amazon's CEO has a personality

I’d take Sundar over Bezos any day. Sundar’s personality isn’t domineering, but it clearly shines through when he talks about investing in education and increasing access to the internet. Kindness and humility are invaluable in a CEO, especially now.

Sundar is spineless and it's driving this company to the ground. Most uninspiring leader ever, put in place just because he is a puppet that can manoeuvered.

If he was a puppet, we’d be hearing a lot more from Larry than we have been recently. I think he’s actually got a lot of backbone around ending harassment, and we’re seeing the beginning of a reckoning on that.

I haven't heard the muppet talking about the relationship between Sergey and Amanda. All the yapping is about execs that have left already. It takes lots of courage to do that 😂😂😂

Yeah, same question here. When I was at G, there was so much BS around diversity, what percentage of women engineers we hire and how much we pay them, etc.
At FB it seems like no such crap exists at all. Everyone’s feeling happy and included.

Google is bigger, less cohesive, and full of leakers, which lends well to more public scrutiny of our internal workings (leading to internal protests). Facebook is also much younger than us and had Sheryl cleaning up Mark's messes earlier on.

Because Google is filled with sjws who want to protest at every chance they get. Andy Rubin had a clause in his contract and hence he was paid. Google employees are angry at everything from dod projects to dragonfly.. and maybe next thing they want is a woman ceo with a male ceo.

Basically we should rename to Bernie’s Google. Revenue growth is slowing, we have 81 apps on ios with no strategy, amazon is eating our lunch on ads and cloud but hey we are a bunch of libtards that want free food and will suck the shareholders dry.

Nokia, GE, IBM, gopro, snapchat... we will be added to that list of promising companies that succeeded and then failed

We’re making long-overdue changes while there’s still time. Being a company with a mission and values that extend way beyond the bottom line has always been a key differentiator for us — if we lose that, then we indeed just become IBM.

Facebook will fire your ass unless you’re working 50+ hours a week. And there are some real assholes there... saying this as a former employee. Google, based on my friends’ experiences, seems nicer but always had a culture of employees pushing back from the start. Facebook’s culture is Uncle Zuck knows all.
