Google vs Grab offer
I have offer from Grab Bellevue and Google Bay Area Grab TC 260k base 160k annual bonus 24k Rsu 50k units worth 5.87$/unit vesting over 4 years Haven’t got concrete numbers from google. Both roles are for SWE ML 3 yoe, both offers are for L4 Comments/advice from people at grab would be really helpful

Google, no brainer. Seattle team has to follow leaders in Singapore and wlb is very bad in Grab
According to our discussion, the head of the department is here in Seattle and Singapore has its own team that reports to HoD here. Is this common misrepresentation? Have you interviewed/worked there?
Yeah I worked there. The worst place I’ve worked at so far. It’s not an independent department. It’s not unusual to have midnight calls with SG team.

So they told you that you passed HC, you have a team, but they haven't given you numbers yet? Don't you have to have offer numbers for the final VP approval step?

Congrats! Tough call. Steve Yeggie, who runs the Data team is based in Seattle (Bellevue to be precise). If they do IPO, I don't expect them to do better than Uber or Lyft. But, I really like the fact that at Grab you can be somebody rather than being a nobody at Google (at L4). Also, personally like Grab's vision and mission better. At the end of day, pick the right team. Being on the team which you absolutely love, learn and enjoy your work matters more than TC.
What vision? Their vision is to throw money at every possible direction and pray that they become profitable one day 🤣
They've folks who are disabled using their wheelchairs to deliver. They've folks riding around in mopeds who act as taxis in SEA. That's so much better than Uber which never understood how to localize. They're so much more which I can think of and can't speak about because of the NDA which I signed when I visited them.
When you say SWE ML... What does that mean exactly? I'm trying to get more into ML... But not interest in ML infra
