Google vs Pinterest
4 yoe at Google already, seeing a 4 year cliff. Got an offer from Pinterest. Google came up with a counter offer (effective at year end refresh) but still 10%lower as comp team wouldn't completely match pre ipo companies. Both places attract me in some ways. PM role. Google: stable, very recently our team got some big clients so quite promising. Goal is to go L5 by end of year. Lower salary, slow promotion and process in doing things, esp working with Enterprise clients. Pintetest: less stable, not sure if/when equity will become liquid and what's the upside. E4. Projects sound interesting though i am not a heavy pintetest user. Coworker/leadership seems strong and helpful. Any idea?
What made you want to interview at Pinterest? Any other pending interviews/result? Personally I don’t use Pinterest and find the product useless, feelings like Digg to me, whenever I search something. If you don’t feel growth at Google, time to move! Perhaps move to another company a few years from now. Don’t stay if you aren’t finding growth and making lower salary, especially for a PM role. Find a better company.

Why do you want to work on useless shit product like Pinterest. This question make no sense, stay with Google.
Pinterest is a pretty beloved product and some great growth potential that you would be the steward of. Sure maybe not in the long run but I think the culture is better. Depends what you want tho. If you want a stable job and a retirement home go google.

Strongly disagree. You have way more options at Google. Many recent 1 yr xooglers are returning to the big G or joining F. Actually you can say F acquired most of Pinterest talents without buying the company. Pretty funny.
