Whatever happened to the notion of good intentions behind people’s words? Why is there so much thought police? Tech companies in general are becoming more and more shameful. I left Google after a 5 year stint and I thought it would improve but it’s just getting worse and worse. At least at Facebook, people are trying to push diversity of thought now thankfully. I’ll give it 6 more months before Google collapses on itself.

I don't get why people get offended about these things and then try to force different words on others to use. In particular this scenario /* “Family friendly” used as a synonym for “kid friendly” means, to me, “you and yours don’t count as a family unless you have children” */ Unless Google we're kicking people out for not bringing children, why is it interpreted as "you and yours don't count"? You cannot stop people from being offended. People can only control their own emotions. Being offended says more about the receiver than it does of the speaker of the words used. If it did in fact mean anyone without children must leave then I would agree the interpretation.

I don't hear people whining about the word family directly (saw a mention on Y@G). But there's a lot of peer pressure to participate in walk outs and other protest shit. I've got kids and no time to fuck around. I consider many anti-Dragonfly arguments to be borderline racist. Yet if I'm publicly on the wrong side of that line, I must be a right wing incel.
