Hi, I have two equal offers (both around 380k TC, not the important part), but the team at Facebook excites me much more than the Google one. I've always wanted to work at Google, but the team that extending an offer isn't nearly as exciting than the one at Facebook. I feel like I'm over indexing on the Google brand name and prestige. Would it be foolish to pick G over FB just because I think it looks better on my resume (is that even true? Is Facebook considered just as prestigious?). At the same time, I could always switch teams within G after a year, too. One last note is that while comp is the same, I'd be an E5 at FB and an L4 at G. So I'd be a little further ahead at FB and their promotion cycle is a little faster from what I've heard. What do you all think? Would appreciate any insights & opinions. PS I'm aware that this is a great problem to have, just want to make an informed decision.
Take the FB offer as it is one level above and you are excited about the team
It’s for people like you “TC or GTFO” became a term on blind.
380k for a Google L4 wtf
What’s the max range for L4?
380k for L4 is not unheard of at Google. But typically that number is only for first year TC because of signing bonus. I bet after first year, TC is actually 280k. Signing bonus, especially if you have a competing offer from Facebook, can entirely fund a fully-loaded Tesla.
380k for an l4. What did you do at msft? Build entire azure?
I smell bs
What’s the highest you’ve seen for L4?
I’d pick Google any day. Better WLB.
But good luck ever getting promoted
Both level and team, def take fb.
Google because higher TC at lower level and better WLB
not true uniformly - certainly not for me
overindexing on prestige? Who is this prestige for and where do you cash that out to pay some bills?
Google is paying same of salary for one level lower? And this is where you have been wanted to work...
it's not the same compensation given refreshers, PTO, and bonuses. Being one level lower sucks.
Maybe your index is off by one
