Got RFE for H1B transfer to FB. Super frustrated.

Don't know the reason just yet, but thinking it's specialty occupation (majority reason). Was all ready to go, but of course something like this happens again... Seems like it'll take an additional 2-3 months to figure stuff out. What was your RFE reason and how long did it take to get approved? Just felt like venting.

What role are you in, and what/where did you get your degree?

Microsoft mj__tr OP Sep 24, 2019

BA Degree in Europe. It's an IC role.

Marvell HCiH86 Sep 24, 2019

really?with pp you still need 2-3months for RFE resolution?

Microsoft mj__tr OP Sep 24, 2019

They said IF it was specialty occupation, it could 6 weeks to file a response. And then another 2 or so to hear from USCIS. Super bummed.

Marvell HCiH86 Sep 24, 2019

ok specialty occupation. anyway good luck

What’s your major?

Microsoft mj__tr OP Sep 24, 2019

Majored in a design program. This isn't for an engineering role.

I can closely relate bro. My case got RFEed. The fun starts when you try to get reference letters from all your previous employers including current one. And the whole process can take 2 to 3 months

Microsoft mj__tr OP Sep 24, 2019

Luckily, I have most EVLs already for the PERM at MS. Hoping for the reason to be as simple as a paystub or something (that's what I read from another post haha) Was your reason specialty occupation as well? How long did it take in total from the rfe notice forward?

Facebook ewQj67 Sep 24, 2019

SO, I’m still in the process but seems like we are targeting to get it done within 8 weeks

Apple Sierra8 Sep 24, 2019

Don’t be frustrated. 60% of the cases gets RFEd.

Microsoft mj__tr OP Sep 24, 2019

You're right, I saw that. Like everyone else, I was secretly still hoping my case wouldn't get picked... It's just so time consuming and my new team is waiting for me, I'd hate for them to reconsider another candidate because of the wait. I know they won't rescind the offer or anything, but i really want to keep that specific team, y'know. Thank you for trying to cheer me up.

60% overall right? I think it might be a bit lower for FAANG.

Valero Energy Corporation UrdntGrunt Sep 24, 2019

Whats your role and level at FB? My recruiter already asked me to expect 3-4 months of processing time. My expected timeline: Offer received: September 5th Expected joining date: December 12th.

Microsoft mj__tr OP Sep 24, 2019

IC5 role for me. They will file PP, so if you're lucky, you won't get an RFE and can possibly join much sooner.

Valero Energy Corporation UrdntGrunt Sep 24, 2019

IC5 here as well. Its brutal out there, I can only hope.

I also got RFE with SO but I never worried about it. Finally it was approved. I would say do think too much about it.

Splunk lebraten Sep 24, 2019

Did you have to provide any documents or the lawyer took care of everything ?

Facebook swzN06 Sep 24, 2019

Nothing needed from my side

Riverbed Technology dagdaubab Sep 24, 2019

Can you not start working on receipt?

Microsoft mj__tr OP Sep 25, 2019

I can. But I won’t. It’s too risky.
