Got a fb offer after accepting Microsoft's return offer. What to do?

My interview timings were misaligned and my msft offer was expiring before my fb onsite.

Msft offer
110k base
150k stock
50k signing

Fb offer
118k base
150k stock
75k signing

I'm thinking about keeping my end of the bargain with Msft since 25k really isn't worth reneging, and maybe try again for E4 at fb with 1.5 yoe. Thoughts?

Fair point. For msft, 50% of my stock will be vested at 1.5 y mark. I'll probably job hop then if growth/refreshers becomes an issue

pawu - i've seen your trash comments at 5+ threads FB threads now. No one actually at google would be as insecure as you. It's kind of sad you have to lie to yourself and others on here and make light of a tragic event.

As for OP: No one leaves FB for Microsoft, it's always the reverse. If you were to reneg, Microsoft, you wouldn't care about going back there anyways. You'd automatically have better options.

Thanks. Tbh, no one leaves fb for Microsoft because they simply don't pay senior and E4 band competitively.

For new grad, it's a different story: 35h/week of work (my team works 30-40h on average per week) for 220k.

It's a pretty sweet deal for the first year and I'll have plenty of time to Leetcode and prepare for a job change if it comes to that. Seems much more appealing than my Fb's offer, unless they bring the signing bonus up to 100k

good luck, the bar for E4 is higher than a new grad given difficulty and lack of positions. I would 100% choose FB to learn more and be in a better position career wise. If you're looking to rest and vest now, you should choose microsoft. But be aware, it might be at the detriment of your career as levels will matter when you apply elsewhere.

What’s best for you - that’s what you do. If you want to join FB, do that. If you want to join Microsoft, do that. Don’t worry too much about ‘’keeping your end of the bargain”. You are not that important and no one cares. It’s at will employment. You can leave any time you want, and you haven’t even joined.

    You are welcome.

Most people are happy - hence why most interns accept their offer at FB despite having other options via previous internship return offers

My team at msft works on average 35-40h/week. What's the workload like for the average team in Fb Seattle? Any way to spot teams with good wlb at Fb in Bootcamp?

  • Why is fb base 110k and not 118k?
Also consider 3.5y vs 4y vesting.
3.5y vesting isn't even -- it's just shifted up 0.5y, so the effect stronger for the first few years. Just try for fb E4 after the 1.5y stock vest.

You are right, 118k base for fb!

At what time of the year do stock vest at msft? And bow hard is it to get E4 with 1.5y?
      Oct 2
    • pretty sure new grad stock vests 25% at 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 year anniversary of start date. No clue abt E4 @ fb

Go to one that you'll learn more from. Fuck the comp, you're young and your salary will double in 3 years. Invest in yourself. My 0.02$ without knowing more about the teams, I generally see more growth from my peers at fb than Microsoft, both personal growth and comp.

You sure? My current offer seems low and barely beats msft, which has great wlb+ stock vesting schedule. I was hoping for a bit more from Facebook tbh
      Oct 2
    • Facebook easzss
The highest offers for new grads go to interns that have proven themselves. FB also has no need to beat Microsoft straight up for a new grad given the refreshers and perks and the fact that most Microsoft people go to FB later. Your TC at microsoft will pale compared to FB after a few years. WLB depends on manager at both places.

  • Microsoft aopq
    OP
It's true msft's TC won't hold up long term, but I won't be staying long enough for this to affect me. Fb has had so many PR scandals over the last few years that I expect a significant premium on comp to make this worthwhile.
