Was traveling down here in Florida. I exited the interstate, to gas up, in East Kentucky. Walked around the store to wake up my legs whilst I look for snacks. A gentleman at the end of the aisle, by the fridge, with no shirt (his body was pink as rare meat) and had his arms crossed said: "You gon buy something boy?". At this point, everyone in the store was looking at me. Then someone dropped the hard "N" word while they left. I could've chased him down, but I was holding a snack and think that I was stealing. Checking out my food, the clerk asked if I spoke English and asked to see my ID when I gave my CC. ???? I'm Asian. ??? Are people this racist in KY or the south in general? What would you have done? Ask for their TC? Looked up the PCI there: $19,604. TC: 86k + Tuition for MBA
Yes, you will be call a Noob if you are lost in a small store.
I was wearing a default skin😤👌🏽
And then everybody clapped
I can hear this after the plane lands in a domestic flight
So you complain about racist statements with racist statements? “his body was pink as rare meat” You are no better, so stop trying to act like you took the high road.
👆 this. @OP. When you say `At the tip of my tounge I was going to say: "I'm not black".` are you implying that just because you are not black then you shouldn’t be called the “N” word otherwise it’s OK to be called that? Try to reflect on your thoughts and actions, perhaps you are also being racist without admitting or realizing it.
@007 was meant to correct him and tell him my actual race and parent's nationality. I'm proud of where my parents came from. Obviously, was going to tell my what I actually was- not throw black people under the bus.
did you at least get their TC?
That would've sounded classist. Glad I didn't.
OP I'm Asian as well. In some parts of the world, especially in rural US, there are people who have never seen an Asian person IRL before. That doesn't "excuse" what allegedly happened, but you don't need to be so sensitive about the actions of people who have lived in the same 10x10 sq mile area their entire lives. You just can't expect to be treated the way you want to be treated no matter where you go in the world, and it's just unrealistic to hold everybody to the same moral standards regardless of their position in life/life experiences. This story is pretty suspect though. Even dumb hillbillies wouldn't call an Asian that word. If they use that slur for non-blacks, it becomes less insulting to black people. This is a fundamental truism of slurs/pejoratives. I can think of 5 better slurs for asians without even trying.
Some Asians are darker that the most blacks here. No wonder an uneducated idiot would be mistaken. There are low income areas anywhere in the world where you’d be insulted openly. Don’t go there. Regardless of your or the inhabitants’ races. You don’t belong there.
Nearly everywhere considered “rural” has a Chinese restaurant ran by Asians of some kind so I’m sure nearly everyone has seen an Asian IRL. I’m calling BS on this story. An Asian friend told me “rice ball” was a common Asian slur. I’d never heard this but we both laughed our asses off.
I refuse to believe Asians exist
Atoms and molecules are not real. Fake news!
And the earth is flat
You're earning 86k in Kentucky?? You're Jeff fucking Bezos over there dude.
I'm an EECS in Michigan
Kentucky elects Mitch McConnell, the 🐢 That says enough about the state.
This sounds like all the fake race stories the MSM push almost daily. If you had said he called you rice ball, I would have been more inclined to believe it.
Thank you white man. Describe to me one time when you have experienced racism.
I’m neither white, nor a man. I’m a woman of color. Try to keep up.
The south is more open with their brand of racism. If you're just passing through no point in chasing them down for the principal of it. Even if you did what would you do?
At the tip of my tounge I was going to say: "I'm not black". But thinking about it, he'd probably say something racist again. Michigan is racist too in a bureaucratic way and a hidden way. At least people in the south are honest about it.
Don't say shit like that. Don't reward their racism.
