Got an offer for a small’ish tech company. Base: $140k Equity: None Bonus: None PTO: (including sick days) is 18 days... EIGHTEEN! current comp: base: $140k equity: $40k over 3 years (it was $250k until WeWork crashed) Bonus: None normally I would say thanks but no thanks, but WeWork may lay me off any day. I don’t have any other offers. I’m in Utah. Recommendations on how to counter to get additional comp? getting more PTO is off the rable, according to the recruiter.
Jeez that sucks, sorry to hear that. DM me if you want a referral to Salesforce.
Ask for sign on. Usually this comes from different budget, so manager has some leeway
Anything better than wework
Why did anyone ever expect a real estate company to succeed masquerading as a tech company?
That was some pretty good comp for Utah
Take the layoff package first. Free money
If you're in Utah I imagine you are working on Teem? That is an actual tech product and might not be as affected by the layoffs?
Tech products/business lines are likely to be the first eliminated. Softbank is looking to retain the core business (WeWork I.e. coworking/flex space) in core markets. Everything else will be shed either via closure/layoffs or disposition(acquisition by another company).
That’s a good salary for Utah. WeWork was probably over paying anyway.
That salary isn't uncommon but 250k in equity is hard to come by.
Sounds like your offer is from Qualtrics
So sorry OP. DM for Amazon referral. Accept the offer and keep it as back up. Damn! That drop in TC though.
