Got offer from Grab

Got an offer from Grab a while back. Recruiters say that Grab RSUs can be worth of 5-10x of todays valuation. I don’t believe into these types of hype talks. New TC: 300k (paper money) Old: 220k (will drop in 2020-2021) What do you think? Any current or former Grabbers could shed some light? Edit: For those who ask what is Grab. It is ride sharing company in SouthEastAsia. Bought business from Uber.

What are grabs offer components?

Amazon 321sde OP Apr 13, 2019

They haven’t broke it down.

Ask them for base and stock separately. Otherwise it's going to be hard to make any sense of the offer.

Recruiter always exaggerates stock growth. Do your due diligence

Amazon 321sde OP Apr 13, 2019

The thing is I have no idea where they stand, when they plan to IPO.

It’s not gonna happen soon. We get the vibe that numbers don’t look good.

Amazon 321sde OP Apr 13, 2019

Why do you think it is better to stay at Amazon? I don’t expect growing there.

What is Grab tho? Like actually

I have relatives who use Grab regularly, so they do have organic usage. That being said, Grab has a few challenges: 1. Taxicabs in Southeast Asia are incredibly cheap, unlike the US. Grab faces fierce pricing competition . 2. Legacy Taxis have exclusive regulatory approval to use diesel in some countries. On the other hand: 1. Legacy taxis have to be booked by phone (!), and you don’t know when they’ll arrive and you don’t know the price estimates. Or you just have to wait on the street. 2. Legacy taxis don’t have pooling features like Lyft Line/Uberpool.

I am from SEA. Dont believe a word of the stock valuation. Grab is very unlikely to IPO in the next 3-5 years. They're going to be burning cash for the near future, don't have a significant cash cow like Eats or Freight like Uber and a ton of their rides are motorbike which are like $0.50 a trip. If by some miracle they IPO expect their stock to be like SEA (Garena) another similar SEA "Unicorn". Go for 100% cash or bust.

Keep interviewing bro, Grab isn’t going to own the world. 5x is very unlikely given tough competition they are facing in SEA.
