Need your help blinders! I posted a thread asking about Grab expected TC last week, the link is in footnotes. There has been some development and now I have an offer from Amazon India and Grab Singapore. I would love to understand your opinion. Here are the TC figures for first year: Amazon (L5, SDE-2): - Base: ₹30,00,000 (INR 3 million ~ USD 42.2k) - Bonus + RSUs: ₹13,50,000 (INR 1.35 million ~ USD 19k) - Relocation bonus: ₹1,50,000 (INR 150k ~ USD 2.1k) - TC: ₹45,00,000/ Grab (Grade 4): - Base: SGD 108,000 (INR 5.67 million ~ USD 80k) - Bonus: 15% of annual salary (to be paid bi-annual) - RSUs: 15,000 units/4 years (didn't share the price) - Sign on bonus: SGD 9,000 (INR 470k ~ USD 6.6k) - Relocation bonus: SGD 8,000 (INR 420k ~ USD 5.9k) - TC: SGD 125,000 + ??? (will update once I receive RSUs valuation) I have no idea about the cost of living in Singapore but I am sure quality of life must be better than Bangalore. I feel the offer by Grab is on a lower side if I consider the PPP ratio. What do you folks think? Current TC - ₹30,00,000 (INR 3 million) YoE - 4.5+ ---- What TC to expect for SDE-2 in Grab Singapore? (Compensation) https://us.teamblind.com/s/VbcD7eAU

From what I researched Singapore has a high cost of living. I don't know how that compares to Banglore though
Your home is your base. Any change to that should come with a 5x to 10x improvement in important criteria. Is Grab in Singapore 5x to 10x better than Bangalore? Doesn't seem to be the case with regards to salary. Try to quantify QoL (eg., Water, electricity, schools, etc.) and come up with a quantitative measure.
Sharma ji that quantification hi to kantaap hai. (Translation: quantification is the tough part).
If you are young and not married, go to Singapore and explore. If you don't like it, you can always go back.
Not married yet, might get married in 2 years.
From a financial perspective, Amazon India is better. Incase you are unmarried, you can spend couple of years at Grab Singapore and come back to India or move to US
Grab pays above market rate. With 108k you will have about 8.6k per month after tax. Standard of living is way better than Bangalore. Generally I recommend people to live outside of India experience the way of life. And if it does not work out move back. Most of the people get used to the higher quality of life and find it difficult to move back.
You won't spend more than 4k per month even if you live in an independent flat with 5km of office eat everyday outside and take cab to and from work.
Does grab offer opportunities to move to the US like Amazon India?
Have you tried negotiating with Amazon telling them your Grab offer? Please do so
Not yet. Amazon wasn't willing to negotiate before, not sure if they would now.
They will. This is the best comment /suggestion in the entire thread.
Financially, that's a solid offer for Singapore. You'll easily save ~2-2.5 lacs INR per month and live in a city with a much better quality of life. Amazon is not really hard to clear and you can always come back to India if you don't like Singapore. That said, if you love being in India and you aren't really willing to explore other cities, stick to Amazon.
That's the question. I have been to Singapore twice. I did enjoy the trip from my tourist lens but shifting is another matter.
There’s only one way to know :)
Also please stop including 4 years of stock as TC, divide it by 4 and then add. (In case of Amazon though, you'll just get 5% in first year)
I did that for Amazon, dont know RSU and strike price for Grab so didn't include. :) If you read, I have mentioned these are the numbers for the first year.
So Amazon has offered you 54 lac worth of stocks over 4 years?
Yeah but AMZN stock price is not gonna grow by 500% in the next 5 years. You do realise that right? To exactly get that kind of growth you saw, Amazon is not the right company. Grab is.
@amazon that is actually an interesting point of view. I agree that salaries have exploded in India in last few years and are continuing to grow due to lack of talent pool at ~5 YoE level. Can I DM you just to understand your experience?
lol you’re asking a group of unknown ppl for your work location choice... Shouldn’t this be your own personal choice..
Read again. I am asking about the compensation parity.
