So it seems that grab is going to give me an offer... interesting company as uber from southeast asia and is aggressively growing. What do you guys think of the company? For people who vote nay can you elaborate?
Join Uber. If not Uber, Facebook.
Lyft
You have Uber and Lyft with pretty sizeable engineering offices in Seattle. Why would you join Grab? They don't even operate in the US nor have plans to do so.
Grab is more interesting than Lyft and more competitive too. If I were from Southeast Asia, I’d definitely consider working for them over Lyft (but not Uber). Plus, once the SoftBank deal is over, it’s likely that Uber will acquire Grab in a cash+stock deal.
Why would Grab be more interesting?
Grab gave me an offer (after interviews... as usual) but when it came to an official agreement, it did not included all promises (sign in, bonus, equity). They simply did not wanted to write it down to official document. So obviously I do not work there
That’s a huge red flag.
Not unusual for a company to not write up an official offer letter until the candidate has indicated they will sign
My advice - stay away.
Yes, there's only upside to expanding your horizons past the typical US software companies
I know one of the founder and have a couple of friends there (in SEA), pm if you want info

Sure place your future in the hands of anonymous strangers. Some of which (statistically speaking) are serial killers But hey, enjoy the new job and the sterile hot-mess that is Seattle....
