Grad School

I want to go back to school with the goal of focusing on AI and more specifically computer vision. So I’m planning to apply to computer science programs. My under grad was computer engineering. But I don’t have research experience, in my undergrad I did mostly engineering projects outside of class.

Has anyone, or does anyone know someone who’s gotten into a CS MS or PhD program with no research experience at a top 15 school? If so how?

I’d like to do a PhD but a MS seems more likely with no research experience!

Check out Georgia Tech's online Master's in C.S. They have CV courses and accept people from any background as long as your grades are good. That's probably the best you'll get without a C.S. undergrad. I think Georgia Tech is ranked #8 in C.S. overall and #4 in Machine Learning / AI.

Thank you. I believe you were responding to the OP? My goal is to earn a BS in CS first. After that, I want to get a Masters degree and I'm thinking AI, or robotics or IoT. I'm a fresh fish in this app therefore any good advice I'd appreciate. Thanks again.

  • Ms or ms with phd intent. You are not getting into a top phd program without publications.

If your undergraduate degree is CS and you are getting an MS in CS you are an idiot.

Get something that pairs well with it. Do not go CS + CS. It's a total waste.

Academic CS != Real world experience CS

You mentioned AI - that or Data Science. Robotics ... meh. IoT is a load of crap. I wouldn't touch that.
