Wells Fargo coms to mind. Criminals.
Gods, I think about this all the time. We have a number of cute sounding stories about this one time ad planners used a service I helped build to educate the masses about a new health care option, or help a socially-conscious(ish) vendor of recreational drugs plan their campaign so adults would see it and kids wouldnât. But for every one of those I overhear the names of a half dozen other brands that are notorious for lobbying against climate awareness, or have union employees actively calling for boycotts that same week, or that made significant campaign contributions toward politicians actively pushing an agenda to oppress L/G/B partners or deny citizens the option of an important medical intervention. I would never cross a picket line in real life, but if I build an algorithm that helps signal-boost a marketing campaign during a strike, all for the love of the math, maybe Iâm just as bad.
This was interesting. So, what would happen if banks didnât use these sort of tactics on poor people? I used to struggle financiallyâparents went bankrupt, coming out of college I only had a few hundred bucks and accumulated more credit card debt than was wise. Had to live pretty lean for a number of years to get it together. I did a few things: - didnât have kids - drove my mid-90s car for a long time - cheap groceries, cheap drinks when I went out (had a good social life) - saved saved saved The narrative we often get from left-leaning media outlets is that the poor are treated totally unfairly and just canât get ahead because of crushing debt. Wellâif you go to university and study soft subjects (I majored in history, but learned a bunch of shit on my own time), and then go get a PhD in something like sociology...donât be surprised that you canât pay off student debt. I know at least ten people who did that, and theyâre complaining about 50-100k student loan debt. If you make other bad, irresponsible choices...thatâs going to have consequences. Iâd like to know how many people are genuinely and truly getting screwed over. How many people are going bankrupt over freak accidents or horribly unfair health problems. Etc.
What a pile of garbage is this article? Wtf is new republic? Some Marxist propaganda outlet?
Itâs not as brazenly woke as much of the rest of the woke media. I donât automatically hate what they publish, but most of it is shit. I thought this was at least interesting; itâs also not the full story.
Speaking of garbage howâs that whole policy change over a chucks office affecting morale? Free trades. Seems like you guys may be in for a đ˘ ride.
Like all products, the consumer has a choice whether to purchase it.
Marketers would like to have a word with you.
