Hypothetical View Point as I’m still single and 26 years old- I feel Being a citizen of India and uncertainly waiting for my green card , I am not able to serve USA or India to the fullest. I am feeling it’s not a good deal for both countries having me in this limbo. When I turn 33 i might have a US citizen kid who can eventually sponsor me a green card while I’m in my 50s. And I don’t think there are enough second generation Indian Americans/ other Americans who are compatible with my introvert nature and not so funny sense of humor as my English is non native . So there is no chance of me going off the h1b visa to other types of visa like a green card thru marriage . So I’m going to bring in a wife who is qualified by she would rot on a H4 visa. If I could get a green card today I can sure change some lives or even create jobs as I can risk it all and revive my career. But at 50 I don’t think I would have the high spirit to do it. You may wonder Why am I not going back to India and do something now, I just lost my beloved dad to cancer with huge bills to pay for a few years.
Why live in a country whose government doesn’t want you? I get that you come here for the education and the high pay. When you are old this is not a good place to be as healthcare costs are high. Better to make your money and go back to India where you will be treated better and where you have family/friends who are there for you
How about you marry a us citizen or any girl apart from Indian birth. The queue is faster.
Go where you are happy and respected. Don't aim only to make money. You can save more in India than in US - even after currency exchange! Or you can move to any country (marry their citizen) where you don't waste the prime of your life waiting for immigration. No man-made bureaucracy is worth it!
This is horse shit. You can save $100k+ easily in USA after taxes. That is impossible in India
Not if you make 120k-130k before taxes. I know people with that much TC own estates in India. Consider yourself very fortunate (well deserved, not diminishing it) if your savings rate is more than income of >95% of the people (~based on TurboTax reports).
Hear you mate. Explore Germany, the startup scene in Berlin is good.
You won’t need to work till 50 to save up. Most folks can save enough to retire in USA or Canada within 10-15 years. Just save $2-3M and move to Canada and get citizenship there. Free healthcare and lower cost of living than Bay Area. If you have a home in USA then you can visit and stay in USA for 6 months of the year with the rest in Canada or India
