In general, what is the policy followed regarding the ongoing green card processing when a person does a internal transfer to another country? Is the green card application revoked? Or continued to completion as the employee is still with the company?
It depends on the company, for me they kept the process going.
Cool.. did you have to make a special case for you? Or, is it just the default case? I am looking for stay out of USA temporarily for few years and then come back.. hence asking
No spl case, it was default. There was no benefit for them to revoke it. You can clarify that with your hr/immigration team.
Talk to experienced attorney. Having green card and not using it can cause it "abandoned". Not changing paperwork - charge of status vs. consular processing is different reason to GC to not be approved. Do not seek legal advice from a crowd as they know no details of your specific case.
There is no green card here for it to be abandoned, it is being applied for. After filing for 485/aos vs consular processing, it will need a new filing if you move back to us. And as always, yes please talk to an immigration attorney. Use the data from these forums as input, but not the authoritative answers...
Why do you need a green card if you are gonna be permanent employee in a different country?
To return back one day
