Greta Thunberg and Climate Hysteria

It is critical to remember that hysterias — such as Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, “endemic and systemic racism in America,” the climate“crisis” in America and the “rape culture” on American college campuses — are to the Left what oxygen is to biological life. No oxygen, no life; no hysteria, no Left.

And especially children: If you can’t sell your hysteria to adults, try kids. And that is what the Left has done. After all, no one is as malleable or as easily indoctrinated as children. Consider this: If the Left didn’t tell them the world is going to end, they wouldn’t worry about it. They’d be enjoying their young lives, maybe even learning to appreciate that they live in the freest country at the most prosperous time in human history. Instead, thanks to leftists (who are children in adult bodies), they live in their grip of “existential eco-anxiety.”

Just look at this latest despicable mockery done by Greta Thunberg. Just how inspiring or even persuasive you find Greta’s speeches and overall activism likely depends on where you stand on the political spectrum. There are plenty of politicians and regular voters claiming to be inspired by her words and passion. There are also lots of observers expressing general alarm at what they see as an indoctrinated child being coerced by adults to make their political arguments with her youth as a shield from any criticism.

This is but one more way in which the Left abuses children (along with telling them they are neither boys nor girls but whatever they choose to be; teaching them contempt for their country; and depriving them of the greatest source of morality, meaning, community, and happiness).

It’s depressing, and it’s frightening.

Edit: Nobody objects to a greener future. The objection is to forced coercion to give up liberty and the free market to a leftist controlled big government.

Sound familiar?: “You NEED protection for the greater good. Otherwise the world will end and you will die. Let us control every part of your life, and extort protect money (exorbitant taxes) from you for it. Come on, What’s the worst that could happen if we changed our ways due to global warming, real or not? Cleaner air? Cleaner oceans? Do the right thing! 😡”

Edit 2: Let’s say at school there is a thug who is bullying you but he is promising a green future if you agree to get bullied, give him your lunch everyday and pay him protection money. Will you do it? “the worst case is a greener planet, while by doing nothing the worst case is a dying planet. It makes sense.” Really? The left is that bullying scum. Try to understand. I have simplified it as much as I can. Think, don’t be sheep.

This post is hysterical. If adults won't do anything, the kids will need to. I've never heard Greta speak, but I understand her activism is directed towards climate change and impending crisis. Report after report from credible sources says it's a disaster waiting to happen unless we change our ways but not enough is changing fast enough.

Is kids are becoming hysterical, I think it's justified. Maybe the adults will pay attention finally.

^ @oksure Stop quoting propaganda pieces as fact. Pay attention to the content of the video I shared, the researcher author in that video and the scientific citations within it. There’s nothing about Dennis Prager about that video. Your argument is identical to declaring YouTube a propaganda site based on the views of Larry Page. Don’t be an idiot. Watch it and critique the content, not ad hominem. Stop yapping, start learning.

@LinkedIn: yes, agree with your position totally. The problem is that the left is completely unwilling to even consider a debate on the possibility that their solution may be wrong. That, and the general alarm at seeing Greta who is an indoctrinated child being coerced by adults to make their political arguments with her youth as a shield from any criticism. The indoctrination and tribal mentality + resentment is obvious in her speech and mannerisms. It’s despicable the way the left indoctrinates children as a Trojan horse way of spreading propaganda shielded from criticism and designed to evoke sympathy and concern.

When the kid is doing this out of her illness and nightmares without any scientific studies, why are we putting so much value to her speech? It is adults job to guide her with studies showing world is not ending in 9 years and comfort her, not use her fear and give her platforms.

This post sums up my feelings on the matter perfectly. This green agenda is just a massive globally coordinated attempt by the far left to rip away the freedoms that civilized societies have managed to establish for their citizens since the end of World War 2. It all comes down to taking away everything we own (starting with the freedom to travel efficiently and comfortably) and transitioning to a Soviet/North Korean model of rationing every aspect of our lives including food and housing. In the USA, they have to start by confiscating all the guns in order to prevent citizens from defending their remaining rights when those ultimately get taken away. The left is using brainwashed children like that little girl to help spread their evil message. If you really care about climate change, how about refraining from having kids - it’s the best thing you can do to protect the environment.

Rackspace, it’s too bad that we’ll never know how many CITIZENS actually live in CA. Trump wanted to find out but the democrats prevented him from posing the question in the census...

So our next best option is to start removing all the illegals and see who remains. If you have tips and want to help in this effort, just call ICE and give them the name and address of any illegals you know; better yet, provide the address of their workplace so even more can be removed.

Google, I think you meant "I repeat (with my previous ad hominem attacks removed)." I love your strawman fallacy. For example where did I say I was accepting of lax border security? Oh ya, that's your strawman fallacy rearing it's irrelevant head. It sure is easy to just make up a position for the other side that you want to refute rather than actually dealing with the real position.

FWIW, by strength of diversity I was referring to is the diversity of opinion. The ability for both sides to actually listen to the other without one, I don't know, calling the other "leftist scum", "thugs", "demented", "mentally ill", alluding to them taking away the other's babies, or treating them as the enemy. You know, like what you've, unfortunately, been doing. That said, I agree with you, being accepting of people willing to commit ILLEGAL acts like running over protesters, unjust incarceration, obstruction of justice, violate international law, etc is not our strength.

We also disagree on what our "ethos" are. You seem, based on you statement of "Multiculturalism" as somehow being against our ethos, to feel that immigrants should give up their culture and identity (borg-like). How does that equate with the reason the US was founded in the first place - religious freedom?

      Sep 28
    • Google Mr. Glass
      OP
^ you need to learn the meaning of what “one country” is. It’s not a geographical boundary of arbitrary things in it. It stands for something that separates the members of our nation from others. What’s that defining line of separation eh? Never thought of it? Yeah. There’s a definitional element to it. Think more and you’ll have the right answer.

Simplifying a bit for your sake, I’m sure you know what fruits are and we both agree on what is a fruit and what isn’t: You don’t just misclassify a rock as a fruit and celebrate the discovery of a new fruit, yay diversity! (when do we get to add unicorns to the animal kingdom? Those bigoted biologists must be against diversity right?) There’s a definitional separation between what is a fruit and what isn’t. Sure, if we discover a new variety or create one through cross-pollination - we do indeed get a new fruit.

Multiculturalism the way the left advocates it, is saying “you can bring your country and your ethos here and expand on it as a separate sub-nation, and we’ll celebrate it. Yay diversity!” No, sorry. For example, we don’t want people living and practicing Sharia Law here no matter how diverse the left may find it. We don’t want cultures that contradict our ethos and clash with our culture (not mix) to breed and grow here. The USA is not a random group of people advocating arbitrary diversity.

      Liberty.
E Pluribus Unum (From Many, One)
In God We Trust (because when the influence of God in your life is small, the corrupt government grows)

Remember: E Pluribus Unum (From Many, One). That One stands for a common ethos. It’s not borg-like to subscribe to that, in the same way THAT IT’S NOT BORG-LIKE to obey national and state laws. If you don’t believe in it, get out. The leftist scum are advocating the opposite - “From Many, Many” (Multiculturalism, Intersectionality, Black Dorms, etc) instead of “From Many, One”. Learn to become one with the culture and ethos that defines America. Then you’re welcome, and your diversity is celebrated. Otherwise GTFO 👉

You know E Pluribus Unum was chosen as a national motto because it has 13 letters, and represented the 13 colonies coming together as one, right? At the time, the 13 colonies were as separate as independent nations. So, yes, bring your culture and please enrich our country. Maybe if we’re lucky, immigrants can eventually outnumber the right wing fascists we have running the country now.

FYI, I am for border security and legal immigration. In fact, legally immigrating to this country should be much easier than it is now: pass a basic background check (no serious criminal offenses, more or less), and you’re in! The economic benefits would be staggering, as opposed to today, where being Muslim gets you extra scrutiny, and we’re on the path to “extreme vetting” of anyone who even looks in our general direction.

Wtf is this ridiculous nonsense about "leftists bullying" and "forced coercion to give up liberty"? That is part of literally nobodies plan. Regulation is not "forced coercion", it's a fundamental part of how nation's operate. Every plan leverages the governments structure and authority, as it was designed, to achieve a goal that benefits mankind.

Irrelevant, incoherent and conflicting regulations (which most of our regulations are) indeed are forced coercion by government under threat of force. Educate yourself.
      https://youtu.be/Mf-uPAItVtM

We must NOT champion more stupid laws or regulation. No more stupid laws because the stupid laws are inconsistent, incoherent, contradict each other and are implemented by incompetent people with high margin of error, often more error than the rights they were intended to advance. Moreover they’re used to advance state agendas and as a power dynamic whenever possible, as is clearly the case with contradictory laws. Perfect and cogent argument. You’re an idiot if you don’t get it: if doing an action is illegal AND not doing it is illegal, then its obviously a tool for the state to say “comply with whatever I want or else I’ll prosecute you for the crime.”

Again, for simplistic minds, the example you’re familiar with: Let’s say at school there is a thug who is bullying you but he is promising a green future if you agree to get bullied, give him your lunch everyday and pay him protection money. Will you do it? “the worst case is a greener planet, while by doing nothing the worst case is a dying planet. It makes sense.” Really? The left is that bullying scum. Try to understand. What I find absolutely amazing is the alarmists and their sheep think weather is a reason for massive and fundamental policy shifts in a government, all backed up with liberal-science.

I'm not saying the climate isnt changing: we were in an ice age many thousands of years ago, and now its warming up.

ClimateChange™ is just a garbage lie to institute garbage policies like the Green Deal, restrict liberty and freedoms, tax more, etc.

Take a look at the history of "ice age" in the 70s, acid rain in the 80's, ozone holes, save the rain foresters, barbecued polar bears, world ends in 10 years, 12 years, ok 12 more years. Yawn.

Consider all the things the liberal elites want to take away: cars, planes, cows, energy independence.

This is not climate related at all, but control related.

Same reason they want to disarm US citizens.

    Control.

Collectively Shapiro’s viewers and people that subscribe to this viewpoint dwarf that Vox indoctrination video. You can take solace in that fact. And facts don’t care about your feelings 😉
      https://youtu.be/EoVb3DX85LA)

Just like a convenient radical leftist you ignored the rest of the logical argument and claims that expose the stupidity of the proposed leftist solution to healthcare, and go straight to caricaturization and hyperbole. How typical. And then send me Vox video? Lol didn’t you know Vox is a leftist mouthpiece? Try to do better. You better not hold your breath. Stop yapping, start learning.

Health insurance was created in response to price controls after WW2. It’s not needed now since those price controls are gone. Declaring something a “right” doesn’t lead to creation of more of it, idiot. The way you get more of something is by incentivizing the production of it. Declaring it a “right” makes it less plentiful. Just declaring it a right doesn’t make it appear. Watch the video, the example of South Africa is presented among others. The way to get cheaper healthcare is free markets, not bureaucratic insurance regulation exploited by a few companies to monopolize it.

Why is getting an X-Ray expensive? Why does it cost several thousand dollars through insurance? It’s literally a machine and a technician takes a picture through it. It’s expensive because everyone takes a cut out of it and extorts money - your insurance, the hospital, the lab, and your bureaucrat goon who enforces it. Getting an X-Ray is not cheap BECAUSE you need competition in order to reduce prices. There is no competition in the X-Ray business. You cannot look up the price of getting an X-Ray in a neighborhood and choose among them freely. Again, Start learning stop yapping.
      Sep 28
    • Lol trying to act like somehow 83k means more than 3.1m while saying facts facts facts.

I’m not responding to your “argument” as you call it because it’s the second dumbest thing I’ve read all week. The first being Trumps tweet about his spelling and grammatical errors, while making more errors.

Your underlying statement is that we need more X-ray machines to make xrays costs less. This is inconsistent with basic supply and demand concepts. Suppliers will only provide additional supplies if they can sell them for the price they want. Disregarding basic economic concepts, we can play out your “argument.”

There is an X-ray machine on every block and in order to get customers, vendors cut corners with quality of machine, protection, analysis, etc. since there is nobody governing quality. People will sue, stores will get shut down, but only after many lives are ruined by radiation poisoning and misdiagnosis. And a company will pop up to replace them and the cycle continue.

That’s why we have regulation over health care. Yet there are still things, such as insulin, that the American pharma companies have decided to charge ridiculous prices for, because they can.

But please ignore everything, post another Ben Shapiro video so we can have another laugh at your expense. Copy paste.

Exactly. And then they’d realize the only reason for that massive debt is government-backed loans (“no child left behind! 😡”) that encourage colleges to keep raising tuition (because who doesn’t want to squeeze out free money?) and be fiscally irresponsible.

Let's say at school there is a problem with bullying. 97% of the staff agree there is a problem. One group of the students want to make rules against bullying so everyone can attend school in a bully free atmosphere which is more conducive for learning. Another group of students, the thugs, think that making such rules violates their liberty. It doesn't matter that their actions impact everyone else's ability to learn. Besides, it's a free school. The kids getting bullied could learn to bully better so they could be a thug too. The right is that bullying scum. Try to understand. I have simplified it as much as I can. Think, don't be sheep.

These analogies and snide comments really help the discourse, don't they?

Dang...this was in response to one of OP's comments...since context matters...

"You don’t get it. The scientists don’t say “let leftists and bureaucrats control the economy for a greener earth” you are wrong. The scientists agree on the problem not the solution. Learn (video by a scientist): Learn what scientists really say: https://youtu.be/tUR0LrSadkg

Let’s say at school there is a thug who is bullying you but he is promising a green future if you agree to get bullied, give him your lunch everyday and pay him protection money. Will you do it? “the worst case is a greener planet, while by doing nothing the worst case is a dying planet. It makes sense.” Really? The left is that bullying scum. Try to understand. I have simplified it as much as I can. Think, don’t be sheep."

Rackspace: That’s a valid critique to the argument. I respect it. Though I disagree, but I like that you engage in this way. You are different from the leftist scum that don’t have the ability to analyze a multi agent system in this way. They are extreme reductionists.

Anyway this thread is not to debate with you - that’s a deeper discussion. The reason I disagree with your approach is that a free system is more likely to revert to the mean from an extreme state. Bullies never cement themselves in perpetuity in a free system (that’s a separate discussion). However if you make rules against bullying, all the bully needs to do is figure out how to become the head of the committee that enforces those rules. Then he has perpetual bullying authority, AND legal legitimacy. That’s why it’s a flawed system.

Moreover your analogy is itself flawed. No thug bullies you into buying a gas powered car. It’s your free choice. It’s the thugs with force that want to make that illegal and force you to cough up more (either through paying for a costlier electric car or through taxes) for “greater good”. They are the real bullies. Voluntary free market is the antithesis of bullying and thugs. In fact the government’s ONLY mandate is to protect the god-given rights for every citizen (I.e. prevent bullying). That’s literally the job description for it without dispute.

Google, yes, the analogy is flawed as pretty much all analogies are. Just like the analogy of yours that you've repeated throughout this thread and on which I based mine.

There are different types of bullying and therefore different responses to said bullying. You feel the left are the "real thugs". I find that ironic as your description of the "bullies" taking over the system that enforces rules (and makes them) describes the Republican takeover of the Congress and presidency pretty well. So I absolutely agree with your point that about bullies putting themselves in charge.

Again, your view of liberty seems constrained to those liberties you support. That's fine, in so much as we all have our owner opinions, but your subsequent attempt to paint anyone who has a different take on which liberties are being attacked as against the "god-given rights for every citizen" is pure dogma.

For example, the right's moves to suppress votes, gerrymander districts, and suffocate the people's voice is pretty well documented. See North Carolina, Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, etc. So the Constitution-given right of every citizen to vote and have a government ruled by the people is being assaulted. Do you therefore consider the right "thugs" as well?

Ultimately the attack on our democracy itself is more thuggery than anything else. Laws can be changed, but not if one side rigs the system in such a way that they can't lose.

But you didn’t address the irrefutable objective claim! No thug bullies you into buying a gas powered car (free market). It’s your free choice. Voluntarily transaction. It’s the thugs with force that want to make that illegal and force you to cough up more (either through paying for a costlier electric car because they outlawed the things you like through exaggerated claims, or through taxes) for “greater good”. Taxation is forced theft, otherwise it’d be called a voluntary donation! Think about it. They are the real bullies.

Voluntary free market is the antithesis of bullying and thugs. It’s true - bullying by individuals and companies CAN occur in a free market. But remember, one of the government’s ONLY mandates is to protect the god-given rights of every citizen (i.e. prevent bullying). Like the right to free speech, bear arms, liberty, and the pursuit of their happiness. That’s literally the job description without dispute and even the most libertarian of positions will concede to that government role.

The problem occurs when nefarious actors corrupt the government to deceive the public into thinking it’s their RIGHT to get welfare and care-taking, and the government must provide it. That’s deceitful equivocation, and it’s a despicable thing and it leads to the erosion of liberty. (It’s not unique to the left, and occurs on the right too btw)

You can have courts, roads etc run privately efficiently. You know organizations like Consumer protection b etc are run privately right? No government bureaucratic scum needed thank you. Remember ALL of the problems in the private domain including monopolies, TV and radio band licenses, and health insurance etc are BECAUSE of government regulation and crony capitalism where regulations are tailored to help certain companies. All of the problems. Get rid of the disease and you’ll have a better society.

I agree with crony capitalism and most things, i think my point was as a single entity(me/you) of the society we lack any evidence to think one political party is necessarily better than the other and both employ emotional manipulation tactics. Its important to see that no one completely agrees to principles of either party’s agenda and we pick our battles based on the urgency of the issue

Liberals is what happens as a result of having an economy that’s too good and being at peacetime for too long (no attacks on the homeland because we’re preventing them with military presence abroad). People naturally NEED something to be alarmed and passionate about. So they gravitate to dumb shit like a child crying about climate change. The current generation of Americans in their 20s, especially the rich white ones who haven’t faced much hardship in their lives need meaning, so they protest the flag, riot about climate change, and pose with cute posters on Instagram to get their social credentials up.

You’re spot on that kids are liberals because they don’t understand the world yet. And liberal adults are kids who never grew up. Seeing a real adult support Bernie along with his fellow 19-year old avg Bernie supporters is just sad to me.

Youre missing the point, greed is when you break the power source of others to fuel your jets. Stop drilling around the planet for gas, this life style is neither sustainable or scalable.
