Can anyone provide some details about taking courses through Grow with Google? Is this Google’s new way of developing talent to be recruited into Google or just a clever way of making coin? I’m particularly interested in the Online Masters of Conputer Science from the University of Illinois, which is offered through coursera. Any thoughts on how legit this program is? Would my job placement options upon finishing this be similar to doing an on-campus MCS at U of I? Online MCS homepage: https://www.coursera.org/degrees/master-of-computer-science-illinois
These are the only two option?
What should the third be?
There are always options. This option is over 20k. GA Tech is a quality university that has an online master degree that is much more affordable. It depends on what you plan to do afterwards, you may test out the job market as is. You may be able to get most of the same jobs without the Masters, and additional school can set you back a few years learning if you go onsite. Unless you are doing research or a certain advanced specializations, it may add little value other than the initial screening on your first job.
It's a program run by Google marketing to provide people with digital skills. It's usually targeting young people, in some countries there are partnerships with governments or org to introduce the graduates to SMBs in needs of digital skilled people. The quality is high but it depends what's the background already
MS CS from UI is a good course. Go for it. Also consider omscs from Georgia tech
My first impressions based on the coursework are of a strictly professional degree without much in the way of theory, for better or worse. UIUC is a strong school overall.
I think it’s from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign from what I gathered. Would a traditional masters have more theory involved? Kinda new to the CS world.
Yes, although it should be good branding nonetheless. Best of luck!
