I’ve done well at bargaining and make a 160k base salary. Every recruiter sounds aghast and offended. It’s aggravating when I’m being asked to consider a lower salary. No, Sally, company X can afford to pay 20k more. I can’t afford to lose it. Why has software engineer salary growth stagnated? It feels like we’ve been at this bar for a while now. Felt like venting. At this point I’m just looking for similar and just coming up with nada. Thanks all.

That’s an incredibly high base for that area.
How many YOE? I'm in the same boat. Someone said it in another thread, the only 5 cities where you can really.make.total company moves are, bay area, Seattle, Boston, NYC, Austin
9 years, tons of start up experience and a Master’s degree in comp sci. Sorry to hear your woes as well. Hopefully you have better luck.
Yeah, there's not much you can do. If you don't mind some risk you could try to start your own small business. There's more upside. I might.go that path if I can increase.my name.recognition in the next 10 years

That is a pretty high base — especially for your city. Your market is probably getting a lot more new devs than jobs, keeping the salary down. You should move to a city with lots of tech jobs if you want more $$$ Btw- for perspective, that’s the max base of Amazon in Seattle
RTP is considered the SV of East Coast
Lol you been drinking a lot of koolaid from red hat to believe that. It’s NYC
