My OPT expires in a month, and I’m pretty sure I’ll get sacked if the lottery goes tits up. I’m an undergrad so my odds are not in my favor... After 15 years abroad, I’ll be sent to Korea, where I barely know the culture of, not to mention the near 40% youth unemployment rate. I’m just rambling, but yeah...
A Korean friend moved to Toronto. It's not straightforward, but definitely better than going back to Korea considering you spent more time in the West
Hm. Wth did you do for 15 years abroad and didn’t land GC somewhere?
I followed my dad to the Philippines for 9 out of those 15 years.
Pay someone to marry you for a greencard
Is Korea really that bad ? I was under the impression that it is almost as rich as the west. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the anxiety of a forced moved back.
The job market is pretty volatile at the moment.
And honestly even bigger concern is the working culture. 1. It’s pretty barbaric to begin with. 2. I don’t know how to navigate it.
Try Canada. Or Australia.
As others have mentioned, Canada would be a great alternative if the US doesn't work out. The money is significantly worse, but culture is similar, getting a GC is significantly easier and the social safety nets and healthcare there are better than what's in the US. I'm sorry you're stressed, hang in there. And I'm very serious - look into Canada's Express Entry. Also, you could work in the US on a TN Visa after you get your Canadian citizenship. Far easier to get than a H1B.
Time to start esports
I just received my H1B and I’m thinking of leaving US soon... lol
I haven’t heard from Fragomen yet.. worried lol
You’re not the only one on this sinking boat...
Have you considered moving to Canada?
