Just received email from immigration team saying USCIS has requested for additional documents/information for my pending h1b transfer

—>>> worst thing- it’s my first day with VMware.

—>>> Already resigned from previous employer with who I had an approved H1B

— >>> Applied for H1B on February 21st
Upgraded to PP on March 12th, RFE issued on March 21st

Have no clue about what to do!

I think you don’t need to worry much. RFEs are very common these days even for H1B transfer. Usually they approve when you respond correctly with required information.

@vNbj30 I really hope so! Already getting nightmares about the worst things!

    • Kinda bad because if you get rejected you are done. I think h1b application is subjective to the person who reviews ur application. Best luck

No it didn’t. I was working as a Data Engineer and new role is also in the same field

Why will it matter if line of work has changed or not. My colleague was in support and moved to developer role and still got it approved. One more incident where my colleague moved from developer to technical manager and still got approved. So line of work doesnt matter.

  • Cerner NanDato???
RFEs these days are quite common. I got one for myself. It’s more like a formality.

Approved now for you? How long did attorney took to respond?
      Mar 25
    • Cerner NanDato???
Yes. Attorneys take time to respond. For me, they took more than 2 months. Most RFEs have a deadline of 87 days. Got a response in a week after that.

Are we not suppose to respond back to RFE immediately? Is it normal to take 2 months to provide additional evidence?
      Mar 25
    • Cerner NanDato???
2 months was normal in my company. Uscis has a deadline of 87 days for most RFEs

Don’t worry about it. It’s completely normal and doesn’t necessarily mean there’s an issue with your application.

      Not really sure! :(
Feels like a wrong decision to start with receipt notice!

It’s a bit risky to move on receipt, but there are a lot of people doing that. They seem to be doing fine.

  • All the very best! Its very natural to have nightmares and negative thoughts but VMware has good attorneys and RFEs are getting more common these days. Stay positive I'm sure you'll be approved. :)
