I am in my last 3 years of H1B and recently a recruiter from Arista Networks has reached out to me and the first question he asked was about my visa status and when I said I was on H1, he said he got instructions from his management to not to proceed with H1s coz of the current immigrations policy mess - timelines to transfer h1s have become longer and there is a very tough scrutiny on H1 applications during the extension process etc. Facebook and survey monkey also didn’t proceed with my application after I revealed my visa status? Has anyone here faced this kind of rejections, what is your strategy - sit tight in the current company till you get your GC?!
Yes first question Facebook asked me was my I140 status.Im outta this country by December. You can’t realistically stay here and have a career if your Indian. The message is clear
Goodbye!
Canada?
Strategy is to go back to home country or a better like Canada. Stay lean in US. Don’t make any significant investments here.
America is done with Software coolies.
Wat r u?? Sooftware janitor??
Maybe visa transfer is harder, that’s why
I have been in this phase for the past 12 months, hiring a h1b candidate seems to be a liability...I got so pissed off that i started requesting the HR or hiring managers to provide a chance to showcase my ability. Best of luck anyways :)
Showcase that in your home country! Bye bye!
Will send one for you as well... Shove it up deep
I had lots of experiences like that. When I was in college and cleared hours of interview with Verizon and the hiring manager told me he was going to make me an offer. During the background check, HR told me they had to take back the offer because I need H1B. I told them I could work on OPT for 29 months but HR said they are looking for people who can commit to work there long term so they don't hire people who may need sponsorship in the future. FUCK Verizon! I'm glad they didn't hire me because I got much better offer later. The companies that reject you for H1B are shitty companies anyway. Fuck them all! They pay like shit and have tons of lazy Americans coasting there for 10+ yrs. You pobably won't even want to work there anyway.
I can get on the fuck Verizon train any day. They’ve fucked me over more than once.
Facebook? This is the first I am hearing. Are you sure it was because of you H1B?
Yea.. I was also told that if I have less than 24 months left on H1B/Opt at the moment they are not interviewing.. I was shocked but I guess it was org specific. This was data scientist, Integrity.
Exactly the same response to me too! I was about to interview for a PM role.
At least you have a job. Be happy 😀
Trying to but was surprised at three consecutive similar responses.
This is illegal. Tell them you’ll sue them if they don’t proceed.
That’s sounds like a great way of making an impression. Good luck with that
It definitely isn't illegal and companies have been doing this for a long time. Facebook and it's double standards on this is very shitty tho
