Seems like they have suspended H1b premium processing again. Does anyone know if this also affects visa transfers for existing H1b holders?

I don’t think so. Transfer should be fine.

So how will people move. Moving based on receipt is too risky now. So will companies wait for 6 months??

You have to risk it all.

Depends on personal situation. I will personally do it if it would be for Google.

Google is overhyped bro, especially in this age and generation where lots of small startups are coming up and doing research in the next big thing on breakneck speed!

realistically you have until the end of this week, and quite possibly early next week to initiate a transfer if you’re going to join a new company. Otherwise be prepared to wait 4-5+ months for the H1B transfer.

And what if you get a straight denial because of some random reason? Leave everything. Go back next day? Dont be crazy

No. Once you quit your h1b at previous employer gets terminated. If you got denied an h1b for renewal?

Sure you can start on receipt, but no transfer is guaranteed, and imho that’s not worth the risk of being unemployed on H1B. You’re better off waiting for approval vs receipt.

What is the typical timeline for regular H1b processing?

So every six months they suspend premium processing to clear the backlog. Thanks to the useless RFEs they issue arbitrarily these days.

There will be no RFE from September 11. This was communicated long back.

I don’t think it meant ‘no RFEs’. It meant USCIS doesn’t HAVE to give an RFE.

Also the memo was released in July ffs, not “long back” and only comes into effect in September, so existing backlog could be due to their previous RFEs.

Is this going to be the case for renewals too? Wait for 6 months to get renewed and if you get a rejection for a renewal you're deported ?? How does this make any sense??

If you have a TC of 180K , you should join on receipt and chill

Don't join on receipt. If you get RFE, you're screwed. You have to leave country

Yes. There is nothing call H1b transfer anymore. USCIS treat every H1b as new and they review like first time H1b thats some friends H1b transfer was rejected because bachelors was in Mechanical and Electrical. There will be no RFE in most of H1b transfer or extension and USCIS will reject the case instead of RFE.
