University promotes Handshake app as networking tool over LinkedIn. Any advantages to this approach?

Never heard of it. Is it useful to students outside the US?

Not this year it wouldn’t be, but hopefully next! Right now the only schools using Handshake are In US, but that should change in 2020

To be honest if your school has a good network, the jobs are easier to find there and usually have higher rates of response. LinkedIn is more useful after you have been in the market for some time. I mass applied to jobs through handshake and it was really easy and I got tons of interviews!

Thanks! Mine is a larger school in the PNW and alums congregate West Coast so makes sense to start looking there.

No, not a sponsored message. Focuses on internships and first positions specifically by school and major.
