I was told to expect a technical interview with JanRain / Akamai over the phone with no computer needed. What does that even mean?
knowledge based maybe
They will ask you a bunch of knowledge based questions, and what decisions you will make based on hypothetical scenarios. Like, how would you design a relational database given some information of a use case. This kind of interview is usually for consultancy companies.
Knowledge based and behavioral mostly
I have once. I called candidates but recruiter forgot to forward instruction and candidate said she do not have computer access currently .. so went for algorithm type approach so easy to explain over phone
Trivia
Yeah some company in New York, some ADP subsidiary did a technical phone screen with me without a laptop. On top of some theory questions, I was asked a card shuffling based algo question and had to explain how to solve it.
Is hard to type coderpad in the smartphone
That’s a phone screen from a recruiter, typically. Short answer questions.
Well so far I know it’s 45 minutes with the hiring manager. JanRain company they bought recently. I’ve spoke to two of their recruiters on the East coast since beginning the dialogue.
Well, good luck! The Janrain folks are absolutely wonderful: technically excellent, and with rock solid commitment to doing things right. It shows in their work and in how they seem happy to work together.
