Debating how hard to go on negotiations
It can always happen
I’m thinking Facebook but any of the major companies experience is fair game for discussion
Yes all the Fang can do that. Apparently people ask too much. Many of these companies have software that generates numbers for the offer.
Hard. Very hard. Rock hard. Jokes aside, once you enter the company, your pay raise is minimal (<6% yoy) unless you get a promotion and your company gives yearly stock refreshers.
I’m saying when negotiating your initial comp after passing interviews will they always come back with a final offer or will they just drop the candidate if it’s out of line.
In all seriousness, you can quote a high number and throw them a bone. At the same time, let the recruiter know that you want to know their numbers and that you're hopeful on reaching a number agreeable for both sides. This shows your willingness to accept a certain offer without giving up your own side. Having competitive offers always gives you leverage and you know have to worry about them pulling out.
netflix may do this
But Netflix overpays anyway so it doesn't matter. What they offer you upfront is on the higher side of the market.
not always
Yes
I saved FB and me time by telling them up front in the phone screen what my comp would have to be. They acknowledged the scale for the position would never be that high. I find it absolutely insulting that FB and other desirable companies think they can lowball someone just because they are not from one of the big companies.
Given your company, the lowest profile at FB should have been more than the highest profile at your company. What were you smoking when you had that discussion?
😂
Go hard in the paint. They'll say no at their upper end, but won't withdraw unless you're a dick.
Yes happened to be last year’
How much over the initial offer did you ask for?
Which one in FANG?
