Has anyone had success getting interviews by emailing recruiters or sending inmail on Linkedin.

I’m thinking of the best approach for applying to companies where I can’t get any referral since I don’t know anyone there. Is emailing/inmailing recruiters really much more effective than applying online? If you’ve had success with this approach could you also describe a bit about what you write in your emails.

People like to work with good people. If you have a good profile/resume people are happy to refer. Just ask here.

It works fairly well, and there really is no downside to trying

Usually HRs contact you on LinkedIn for opportunities even before you contact them, if your profile is worth it. Applies to FAANGs as well.

I had luck InMailing recruiters ~1/5th response. I also InMailed random would-be-peers to ask how they liked the role or for coffee. If the convo went well I’d ask for a referral.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant for companies for which I don’t have anyone in my network working there

There are enough people on here you should be able to get a referral to almost any tech company you want.

I guess if you're looking McKinsey or something it will be tough, but for tech let people know where you want a referral. I'd refer to Qualtrics

Yes. Most companies don't care about geography. They take good people wherever they can get them
