Thinking about leaving Amazon because of the culture and go back to my old industry. Talked to Micron and Western Digital, and somehow as soon as the asking TC is mentioned they seem kind of freaked out. I saw another thread a few days ago that even a 22 YOE technologist only make 250k total. Not to mention most people maxed out at senior staff or principal. Anyone tried to leave? How is comp afterward? TC 220k YOE 15, give or take.
lol op 220k @ 15yoe is peasant level

Happens a lot. Some places just can’t afford to pay those wages since they are not swimming in revenue. It saves everyone time.
Amazon vs WD/Micron in terms of tc is like comparing lambo to civic
If amazon is a Lamborghini then what is Google???
Yeah I scared a startup CFO
I once scared a startup that wanted to offer 120k.
Happens at places where stock doesn't go anywhere or only goes down!
Even faang does not pay as well. It is mainly FB and G and to a certain extent N. Remove Amzn and Apple. Amazon without insane stock growth would be much lower comp
Thought apples refreshers made them competitve
Initial offer sucks. So if you stay at Apple for a long enough time then it becomes competitive eventually. But if you just meet expectation then you get no rsu. You need to be a good performer to get rsu
Lol, hardware don’t pay nearly as much. It’s like asking to be a senior burger flipper at McDonald’s and be paid $20/hr.
Exactly, it's about the company's business model and how much they value tech employees..
I agree, but 220k 15 YOE does not seem much even for hardware
