Am I the only one?
I mean. Partners only come in one color.
In my practice, all of the partners are from India. They speak Hindi to each other quite frequently and do so to anyone else who else is Indian, at all levels. A lot of the non-Indians have a general consensus that they receive less attention in the office.
So only one color per practice? Where can I get a yellow partner? I urgently need one
They hire who they like. Often they happen to be someone similar
I'd like to point out that I'm as white as they come and I voted yes.
Ditto.
Good for you white man
Just the fact that our firm has to sponsor the woman leadership program and brag about it to the entire world says everything
Us too.
Female partner? never seen one.
You won't make it all the way If you're from shitty business school that noone cares about
I think this goes hand in hand with office politics. I wouldnt say there's a glass ceiling since everyone has a shot to become partner, but just like anything else in life there are times when you have to pick out few out of the bunch.. in our case, for promotions, partnerships, and all of the above.
Let's also consider that general focus around women in business and women of power was an order of magnitudes lower 10 years ago. I'm hopeful that this notion of a "glass ceiling" will change in the years to come. The bigger problem we have is turn-over.
True. With people leaving at this rate, we won't have candidates in line to become new partners. This industry is saturated and if you are worried about "glass ceilings" here I think you are looking too far ahead.
It happens in every industry, whether you are a minority or a female in the work place. If you are experiencing this, switch your line of service, or go industry and keep pushing for your career.
Yes, just look at your firm's partner group and notice the obvious. White male partners rule.
Our partner is Asian. I think the only Asian. Not trying to be racial, but it is kind of bizarre...?
Nobody cares what BDO thinks
