The only thing that matters is whatever one chooses to value. For people with healthy psyches that usually entails a connection to other human beings, whether friends or family or community. Productivity for productivity’s sake is just as worthless as idle entertainment time, but unless you are a particularly lonely individual that time watching a TV show with your wife or friends is probably more valuable than creating value for some C suite exec or anonymous investor. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Just remember, if money is your goal, when it comes to spending it: experiences with loved ones > experiences on your own > material possessions passed to your kin > material possessions with nobody to inherit them. ( apparently greater than symbol is >... guess Blind hasn’t worked out basic text 🤷🏻‍♂️)

Nvidia, It’s not productive at the moment, but games, movies, art and fiction literature are improving our imagination and let us see things from perspectives we will never see in our life. So in healthy amounts it’s actually good for our brain as it lets us obtain diversified experience without having this experience per se.

This kind of mentality is incredibly toxic and naive. Life is not all about work or being productive. It's OK to watch the show occasionally to relax. It's OK to play video games if that makes you happy. It's OK to spend time with your friends just talking shit all night. Please get off your high horse while I re-watch season 1 of GoT.

To quote Kierkegaard “Watch House of Cards or do not watch House of Cards, you will regret it either way. Marry, and you will regret it; don’t marry, you will also regret it; marry or don’t marry, you will regret it either way. Laugh at the world’s foolishness, you will regret it; weep over it, you will regret that too; laugh at the world’s foolishness or weep over it, you will regret both. Believe a woman, you will regret it; believe her not, you will also regret it. Hang yourself, you will regret it; do not hang yourself, and you will regret that too; hang yourself or don’t hang yourself, you’ll regret it either way; whether you hang yourself or do not hang yourself, you will regret both. This, gentlemen, is the essence of all philosophy.”

The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, i.e., the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being.

This is why people lead empty lives, they're brainwashed to think if they aren't being productive per some skewed sense of productivity that they aren't doing anything and their lives aren't worth living.

Hard to tell which one of us is wasting time more. Amassing cash with which you aren't satisfied with spending? Or playing online games with several of my friends that I've known forever?
    Sep 9 0
  • Amazon zAUt44
OP is really just addicted to Netflix and Gaming and is projecting their problems on everyone else instead of seeking help.

Edit: Beyond just trolling, there is no blanket statement that applies to all of humanity. An elderly woman known as "Skyrim Grandma" or something similar found a great community and reason to do something every day after her husband passed away. She has nearly 1 million followers on YouTube and just started playing Skyrim in order to keep her mind sharp and give her a reason to get up and do something.

Saying that games or shows are complete wastes of time or productivity is as idiotic as saying gaming causes violence or climate change isn't real. Sure, in certain cases that is true but it depends on what the person values and how much of their life it consumes. People make careers out of playing games. Is that unproductive? Define productivity. If someone makes enough money to live their life the way they want, that is productive enough.

You watch one YouTube video full of vector graphics and take everything as fact then make a bullshit post on Blind because you want self validation which is, in and of itself, unproductive. Your comments about Nvidia "making AI," while true, isn't the main focus of the company. People just realized they could take advantage of the vector computational power of graphics cards for massive mathematical tasks and started leveraging that.

      I love this response 3000!

The OP still hasn't understood that in life 99% of things aren't objective which means you can't make blanket statements on what is good and what is bad and expect the entire universe to fall your way because this is all subjective af. If a person wants to spend all their time wasting time then so be it. Just because people who are old and dying today have these regrets, doesn't mean future generations might have the same type of regrets as well. The beauty of evolution is that even this can change.

Second issue is this style of thinking - A is important in life, B isn't so don't spend time on B. In fact I love wasting time, just by watching shows and analyzing scenes or by hanging out with friends and family and doing nothing constructive. Also as I said, the importance of A or B is subjective so let's tune out this habit of reading some article or video and sharing it by proclaiming it to be the new X commandments. Please, no thank you

Lol, I’m retired bud. Most of my fun revolves around hobbies (CNC, home improvements, etc.) that I’ve built up over the last 40+ years during off hours when I was working.

From personal experience, the younger generations are sucked up in screens and useless things, rather than building up skills that can evolve into fun, productive things to do.

If I use the same argument some TV shows are way informative. So depends on what you are watching. Quality over quantity
