I'm going to start on December 17. Wondering how Google handles the health care coverage for nooglers. At Facebook, the candidate is eligible for coverage starting on day 1 of the month irrespective of the exact joining date. So, will Google take care of the healthcare for Dec 1-16, or do I need to check for COBRA enrollment?
Does Google have accidental bus death coverage?
Googlers, how do you get a health insurance proof if you need to use your health insurance on your first day at Google? I assume that you get a card in the mail only a few weeks after your joining date.
It should be nbd. Whenever you choose an insurance, then get a claim and send it to that insurance, they will pre mark you as having had insurance since you started.
If you need medical treatment on your first day, you will have to pay out of pocket and then apply to your new insurance for reimbursement after they enroll you. I suggest you try to avoid major medical procedures until you get the card.
I think your current company coverage will continue till month end but please confirm this at your end
You usually have 1+ month to make your election to enroll for cobra coverage. If you elect to be covered you are retroactively covered from last time of employment. This is perfect. If nothing happens, just ignore cobra. If you needed care during the gap, enroll in cobra for a month (retrospectively). So you will have coverage even without Google.
Great tips!
