I've recently started being contacted for some hedge fund roles by a specific agency. They were advertising increasing salary numbers every time fluctuating from 100k to 250k (London). At some point, they pointed me out to a role in LI stating "up to 600k". I never got in the process of considering the roles, since I am happy currently but that number woke my curiosity. I was wondering; can that number be true for a software engineering role ?
From TC standpoint, true if you get into a good, well heeled pre-IPO startup
Hedge funds pay well
hedge fund can easily pay that much for a senior software engineer if you can pass the interview...
I got offered 350 base + equity at a hedge fund. I turned it down because they offered 6 days of total pto and current engineers explained that they routinely see 10-12hr days
Work like balance will be non existent. At most if not all hedge funds, there is no option to work from home. Most of them want you in office by 8 am. Also lifespan of hedge fund can be very short. Smaller hedge funds go belly up very often.
Now it makes sense..
When recruiters say up to 600k they mean that’s the highest they’ve heard of someone getting paid (probably because they had stocks bought out). Median is likely much less
Yes.
