Hi, I resigned today . I have been with the company for 2 years and got awards etc. A new manager came in and his deadlines didn't match with the work. My architect left months ago and so I had no support. They asked me to do PIP which is very stressful and so I decided to resign. I am actually relieved as it was extremely stressful to meet his deadlines. I am 40 years old and I as m trying to have a second child. As is obvious this is my last chance and family comes first. I will start preparing and applying soon . It might take 3 months to 6 months. If I am pregnant by then , I will not get FMLA ofcourse . I might still get 3 months maternity and parenting bonding. Has anyone got a job while pregnant ? Has anyone not used FMLA ? Thanks
Did you get severance? PIP, are you an Amazonian/FANG? Why did you resign without having another job offer? So many questions.
Also, if you’re interested in Amazon I’ll grab the document on our leave policy.
No not as Mason Ian or FANG. They offered me some thing like pip but it sounded more stressful that the job itself. I resigned cause I don't want to be doing this stressful job with no time for applying. They didn't give me anytime. It started going downhill when this manager took over 8 months ago. My last rating was a meets/fully achieved.
Facebook does 4 months of PTO for parental bonding and $4k in "baby money" and it seems to be effective immediately. I have a friend who just started and will be taking time at the end of this year.
Can you post your preferred location?
wow 40 you old
Why is that a problem ?
Airbnb, sit down, kid!
I know some people who got job while pregnant. As you mentioned benefits were less and some of them were under pressure to join sooner. If you want to be stress free to conceive and money/benefits/visa are not an issue, it’s ok to take some time off. You never know how easy or difficult your pregnancy might be. If it’s a difficult one, getting job while pregnant and initial pressure to prove yourself will be too hard on you. If you have already established your credibility it’s easier. There’s no right or wrong, just be prepared to face each day as it comes.
Thanks ...I have never had a career break. How long a break is considered bad?
There is no one answer. I know someone who took 15 year break and made it again into workforce and excelled at it. I also know people who took 2-3 years and could not come back. If you do not want to take break, have you evaluated working part time or contracting? It allows you to still keep your career and set your own terms and boundaries.
I joined in January and went on maternity leave after 3 weeks. My hiring manager and the org VP were both women and the most amazing people I worked with! Wishing you best of Luck! They are no longer at Microsoft and my current group is very bad for women or I would have tried to help you.
