Have an offer for lead engineer from Snowflake. Here are the comp details: base 190k 15% annual bonus $150k RSU over 4 years Coming from a public company, this would be my first pre-IPO gig. How does one evaluate RSUs for a pre-IPO company - and is the comp skewed more towards RSUs rather than base? Thanks
Hmmm probably they are buckled up for ipo soon. It should be skewed towards rsu. Too less for that component rn. Negotiate the RSU portion hard. Do they decide number of stocks at joining vs vesting date based on value?
Not sure I understand vesting dates based on value? Also no idea how to value pre IPO rsu - what should I be asking for? 400? 800? Thanks
Not a bad offer - they are quite stingy with RSUs (options?) , but project high growth to "make up" for it
Wow. I had heard we cut the equity of new offers, but that's really bad. I'm at snowflake now, planning to give notice when i get a formal offer (tomorrow? I hope). Stay away. New leadership is toxic, technical debt is absolutely staggering, and morale is terrible. You'll get stuck on some death march project while the exodus of early engineers accelerates.
How long have you been at Snowflake I heard good things but maybe I'm wrong?
^Snowflake is an awesome place to work! Not sure why this person is complaining
You got RSU? Not options?
Gotta be options
What did you end up doing OP? Those RSUs might be worth 5 times now, after the last funding secured from Salesforce.
This is going to be 1.5M at market open tomorrow
150k RSUs? Wouldn't that be 150k*226 (today's price) = $33.9M??? I thought they only started to give out RSUs this year.

This is bad deal on low rsu. Snowflake growth in public market is unknown. Look at domo. You need to have minimum 500k worth RSU or not worth the risk.
sorry, what is Domo?
Domo is a recent public traded company
