Can you help me make a job decision? Might seem like a no brainier but switching jobs is a big unknown. Both are similar roles in data consulting. Seems I'll learn on more varied projects in the newer role but it'll be more work. Will allow me to relocate. Won't be in an office - will have to get my social needs elsewhere in more purposeful friend hangouts. Travel should be ok but I have a wife and a dog. They'll be fine đ
Higher TC + wfh? Legit.
The real question is do you enjoy wfh? . Itâs not for everyone. I enjoy meeting people and going to office daily and I also take about 1 or 2 days wfh every week. That seems to be the right fit for me. Travel on the other hand is a whole different ball game. Where are you traveling to? Office or to clients ? 15 percent isnât a whole lot but might be good to accrue some points at hotels and flights
Wfh is a blessing and GTFO if you need water cooler talk
A lot depends on the type of travel. I would never take the higher salary if there was much Asia travel, as those trips suck (long overnight trips). Also don't do it more than 3 years as you'll get irradiated. I had a travel job for 3 years and was glad to stop. 7 weeks of travel annually is a hell of a lot. Can you bring the wife sometimes? Will she want to go? My job was traveling to resorts for standards conferences, mostly, a much sweeter type of travel, but more pressure than you might think.
Travel within 1 time zone, and max 2-3 days at a time.
Beginning and end of project
I would hate to travel a lot tbh.
Me too, but I think the WFH balances it out
Is this bay area?
Midwest, but remote.
Always go for higher TC
Unless u like free travel. Then go for higher travel.
In this case it's in the same job!
