Hired Less qualified us citizen

My team justed hired a less qualified American citizens or Green card holder over a better more qualified non immigrant. I understand citizens get priority if they have similar qualifications over non immigrants ( h1b, opt) but to hire someone who barely passed the interview seems a bit much. Don't know what to make of it?

It means you should go back where you came from. Immigration is a privilege, you should be glad they even let you work in this country.

I see a jackass whose forefathers terrorized native Americans, slaughtered them, occupied their lands and now pretends he/she owns the god damn country.

So an Indian is complaining about a US company hiring a US citizen over another H1B Indian? GTFO.

If the person truly wasn’t as qualified, know that US companies have hired hoards of less qualified Indians over more qualified US citizens to save money.

Care to show where the post mentions Indian? Heights of racism and get offended as much as you want but unless you are not native American, you are immigrant yourself. Your forefathers immigranted instead of you!
US is anyways the most stupid country with respect to citizenship. It gives it to anyone who is born here, no sane country gives citizenship by birth unless 1 of your parent is citizen.
Not judging OP and company has right to do that but interpreting it as Indian is racism at best!

From what? The reason tech companies are doing so well is because of talented foreigners looking for a better opportunities. If that wasn't true companies wouldn't be full of immigrants from Evey corner of the earth.

Citizenship / immigration status is not a protected class. The employer is well within his rights to hire a citizen over equally / more qualified non-citizen.

An non-governmental employer can’t discriminate against a permanent resident. But they can refuse to interview/hire a non immigrant.

That means that your interview process it at fault. Its not fair to blame either of those two people if that's what you were implying. Just saying

I don’t blame them with 2 months over all time for h1b transfer approval and lawyers fees I would choose citizens.
I am also guessing project needs more people right away.

It's a not a diversity hire. Hiring the more qualified person would have made the team more diverse.
