There is a hiring freeze in Amazon. Has anyone heard when will it end? Is this also for internal transfers?
Winter is coming.
I heard that they over recruited in some teams and, had to let a few people go.
Amazon is toooo big I feel, is it possible to grow if you are good?
There is a freeze but not in all the deptts. Amazon is careful about it operational costs and therefore tightening the belt before it's too late. Amazon still leads as a value company and it looks in the long term future and take steps now. There's no layoff or a reason to be concerned. The action is purely to ensure it does not see bad future due to fat operational costs. I think anyone even as an external observer can see how this all makes sense as Amazon meets new heights in profitability.
Btw, AWS is still hiring
I accepted an offer at Amazon 2 weeks ago.
Why would you go to Amazon after MSFT?
Two reasons, I'm done working with groups that should be aligned together vs. doing their own thing, which creates unneeded divergence and strife. The second one is money. On the first reason, it could be I'm trading one set of problems for another, but I can't resist the money offered from Amazon
Not anymore
I interviewed for the amazon go team on the 12th. Waiting on a rejection or offer. I think it will come after new years
It's a BS
Based on what? Looks like you are an Amazonian but unaware of this development.
We just opened 8 new head counts and hired 4 in last 2 months, three of my friends are also hiring... (Mixed of retail, lab, AWS) If some teams are not hiring, that doesn't mean it's hiring freeze...
Freeze ends in spring.
Why the fuck are you all still interviewing then?
Hiring freeze doesn't mean Amazon stops recruiting completely. Teams who are seriously lacking resources are able to get approvals for recruitment.
