Hiring manager interview before the hiring committee at Google

The recruiter wants me to talk to the hiring manager before my application packet is submitted to the HC. What does that mean? Will it be beneficial? I thought that you talk to the hiring managers after the HC makes a decision. I’m a bit confused.

This is positive

Doesn’t add up. They first assess if they like you generally, then decide where’d you fit. That latter step is when you talk to teams, etc. I’m not saying anything is going wrong, but your experience certainly sounds atypical.

I know. That’s why I’m confused. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️

They've been switching it around recently. See other threads.

This is what happens now. Same thing happened to me, and the recruiter told me prior to the interviews.
