Hiring process in faamng

So i have been reading a lot in here that many people did onsite interview and the next day the recruiter already gave a feedback. 1. Does this mean the company only interview 1 candidate only? 2. Is the company hiring because the position is open or they just want to get bright talents? If recruiters/hiring manager here know about this info, i would love to hear. I am just curious. Less trolling please..

At Amazon it's usually one candidate per day for a panel of interviewers, unless it's a hiring event/blitz. Big companies always have open positions so even if the one you interviewed for gets filled, there are many other open positions, probably even in a sister team. It's binary result: either you pass or not. If you pass you will get an offer 99%, even if there are other candidates that passed for the same position. Some other big companies are different. Eg. Microsoft interviews for a position. If you get an offer a wait to long to accept it, you need to reinterview for another position
