Like we’ve all been to a Walmart, they’re pretty awful (sometimes). There’s a whole subreddit dedicated to the people of Walmart and it is a sight to behold... How does this conglomerate continuously beat out big oil, big tech, finance/insurance firms when in reality it’s product (the damn store itself), suck so bad? Honest question.. Tagged Google because y’all are smart
Umm it's called a "balance sheet". Walmart produces one every quarter because it's a publicly traded company. Just read it to understand their financials. Basically, a ton of people who aren't like you or anyone else on Blind buy their stuff at Walmart.
Having this feeling that I was just owned but can’t tell
Maybe. These sorts of questions are actually reasonable and digging for answers in financial statements ("why is this stock so expensive?" "Why is this company's revenue so high", etc.) is actually a reasonable way to go about investing. You could start by reading Benjamin Graham if you find this stuff interesting.
EDLP = every day low prices. Serving people what they want and need.
You guys really need to sell weed. 80% of your client base would just pick up that one extra high-margin item.
You may not shop at Walmart but lots and lots of people do. It's like Amazon.com for the lower and middle classes
It’s much harder to run Walmart than Google, if Walmart is a country by itself, it would be ranked high as a top importer globally
Also Walmart hq is in a much less expensive area of country (Bentonville, AR) than the other companies listed in places such as NY, SF, LA ...
Lobbyism
Running Walmart is like running a country because it has to deal with far more diverse issues; running a tech company is like running an university, not easy but much manageable
The size of Bosch is size of a country. And we have our own stuff and sell it in all continents and have 400,000 associates who are permanent payroll yet not publicly traded in any country expect India. We have damn thing everything including boschtube for social sharing, so I understand what you mean. By some numbers, Bosch is the world's biggest employer who isn't traded.
Ya, Bosch is a beast, very different workforce too, tech mostly software engineers.
They also have one of the best distribution and warehouse setups in the world. This allows them to basically name their price to manufacturers and in turn get the lowest price available for a lot of products. If they get their website pulled together they are easily positioned to take on Amazon as they are far ahead of amazon in distribution of large amounts of products.
Hmm gunna have to call BS there. Please cite the source to where Walmart can take on Amazon... amazon’s infrastructure in regards to delivery is years ahead of Walmart. Sure Walmart’s distribution to warehouses is phenomenal, but not to residential... also you do realize Jeff Bezos just broke ground on their air hub in Kentucky? Literally to compete with UPS/Fedex. Walmart has none of this
Here is one of a ton of similar articles if you google about walmart’s stock- https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/19/business/walmart-stores-grocery-pickup-amazon/index.html. You are correct that walmart is behind in getting a package to a consumers door, but it has the network to get a package to a walmart and 90% of people live within 10 miles of a walmart. This gives them a ‘chance’ that basically no other retailer has, to solve digital and go the extra 10 miles... It also gives them ‘pickup in store’ more efficiently then anybody else, Amazon basically bought whole foods trying to build that out and there are way less whole foods compared to walmart.
Their supply chain management tech is far better than any competitors, Walmart has some good tech.
Disagree. Amazon wins.
Amazon ships small quantities of products to individual customers, the supply chain and warehouse design are completely different

The list is by revenue. The revenue is high, because they resell stuff.
