I know it's a little more west then the midwest but there are A LOT of tech jobs in Salt Lake Valley area. The tech movement has boomed here.
Consider Minneapolis.
How is tech industry in Minneapolis?
There’s a fair amount of opportunity here. Microsoft, Amazon, and Adobe all have a presence. Beyond that, there are many employers of software engineers here including 3M, Honeywell, Medtronic, United Health Group, Optum, Boston Scientific, Thomson Reuters, Marketwatch, Lawson, Cargill, CH Robinson, Target, and, of course, Best Buy.
Chicago suburbs culture is great .. lots of companies have IT bases here
Detroit
VML in Kansas City, one of the best companies culture wise. There mo is pretty much do cool stuff.
Believe it or not the twin cities have QUITE a few tech jobs. Perhaps not necessarily at tech firms, but...pretty solid none the less. It's not as expensive as NYC but still a tad hefty.
Austin is close to SV culture and still cheap
Epic in Madison, WI is always hiring people for tech jobs. Madison is the best city I've been to in the midwest for permanent living and raising a family
Plano (suburb of Dallas) is exploding with job growth and Austin has been the tech mecca of Texas for a while. Both are very affordable places to live and the compensation is good.
Yes but screw the drivers out there. That is in comparison to Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Memphis, Kansas City, Tokyo, and London drivers. The only worse drivers I've seen is in Hyderabad.
I've driven most of those places... seems about the same to me.
US Cellular is in the suburbs of Chicago Illinois, 5th largest service provider. Lots of Service providers have large offices in the Midwest and hire analysts. Verizon has a presence in the Chicago area. Charter/Spectrum has a big headquarters in Denver. Lots of Service providers on the Denver area as well.
