Houses in San Jose for 500k
Planning to move to San Jose. Was checking Zillow and found few good houses for 500 to 600k near downtown. It was too hard to believe. What’s the approx cost for 1bhk in that area?

Some HOAs could easily add 500-900 in your mortgage every month. Still doesn’t seem like a catch ? 😉
If that’s a SFH, they’re pricing low to get a bidding war started. Condo or townhome, that’s a decent price to start. If you move to east or south San Jose the prices get better but not by a lot.

Which buildings / intersections are you looking at? I live downtown
San Jose is not really a super sought after city in my opinion. Many parts are pretty ghetto and unsafe too which are getting better now in the past 1-2 years. The more sought after areas are Sunnyvale and Cupertino, apparently because of great school districts. Disclaimer: I have never really planned on buying a house in the bay area and what i presented is mostly my personal experience living around for 3 years and talking to people who have owned or renting.
Outskirts of downtown San Jose is known for low-income resident and unsafe neighborhoods. Check crime map data first and decide if the location is right for u.

Can confirm. Lived near SJSU for 6 months and one time, a homeless man was just sitting right outside the porch. Very unsettling.

Also check for sex offenders in the area. They are all over San Jose
houses you mean 1b1b 800 sqf apartment right?
They were around 700 sqf.
I didn’t even imagine that 1b1b will be avail for 550k. From what I read here and other places, it’s too tough to be true.
