Move out of the bay. ASAP

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

Where to move??? Where else, they will pay me $90K for QA, don't you think so?🤔

F5 Networks RRA May 11, 2019

You can easily negotiate 90k or better outside the Bay Area.

There are some tiny private studios in people's backyard, sometimes they build adu's. You can look into those? Tiny af though, but you get your private space. Will need to share laundry

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

I am ok to live in tiny. But I don't want to live in the garage or those small storages for stuff. I need something livable with kitchen and bathroom.

Tesla afkisdi May 11, 2019

Well how much are you willing to pay then? 90k isn't a lot in bay to not have roommates....

You can live in a guest house or detached bedroom. They have private bath, private entrance, but shared kitchen. They go for 1300 or so in bay are.

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

Shared kitchen is the worst part. At the end it is coming to the situation, when I can't use kitchen at all in 99% of situations. So this option is not matching at all. But...thanks for attention anyway

Move to Seattle and buy a nice SFH

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

Good advice, but there are two important points. I don't like Seattle's weather, so I would probably end up crying the whole day under that rain. And second one: I don't have a company there that will pay me as near as $90K here.

Stay in Seattle April-October. Take vacations or business trips often other months. What do you mean you won’t get 90k in Seattle? Salaries there are almost the same as in the Bay area.

Visa kjzO64 May 11, 2019

You can get a one bedroom apartment in the east bay for < (90k / 12) * 0.3 = 2,250. You’ll have to commute a bit, but you’ll have your private space.

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

Yeah, I can, but do I need to? I can easily rent a studio here, in San Jose for cheaper, but....I am trying to save as much as I can. Looks like it is not the option anymore, since I ended up with strongest headache every weekend.

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

And that commute, that's kill me. To get from Cupertino to San Jose, take me almost 2 hours both ways every day. OMG, there is no light at the end of the tunnel, looks like🤦‍♀️

The light is to accept your skills aren't as valuable as you may think in the Bay area. Everything is relative, you could be a millionaire in India with that salary but you don't want to live in India. Move out of the Bay area and move somewhere you like, with people around you enjoy, and a job which pays you enough so you're not a wage slave.

Once the Milpitas BART station opens up you could have a no car commute. You could walk to BART and then transfer to the VTA light rail.

GTFO from SFBA. CoL is slowly killing you while you are ranting on Blind.

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

Yeah, I agree. Slowly killing me. Col is trash right now.

Consider moving to Texas or North Carolina. They have decent cost of living and have a lot mor opportunities in the data field without the same level of competition. Raleigh, Dallas, Austin are good places to consider. All the very best mate!

I lived in Myrtle Beach for a month, was working there. Humidity is insane. I can see right now, how picky I became😂

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

Texas is good. I considered it before, but my close friend scared me with those "carrying guns", so I settled down here at the end

Uber B4k4 May 11, 2019

Texas has low rent, low state taxes, large well established immigrant diaspora and growing opportunities. I have several friends who moved from California to secondary cities to escape the housing crunch.

Cepheid 💻📖📚⚫ OP May 11, 2019

Really? So you recommend it to me? What's feedback from your friends? How they like it?

Uber B4k4 May 11, 2019

Most are happy. Travel and find the right community that suits you. Life is a journey my friend - the road goes onwards ...
