Queen Anne, Ballard, Fremont, Green lake, Wallingford, U-District. Close, safe, yuppie, gentrified. Awesome bike commutes in the spring/summer.
Looking for house with yard? I assume so by residential. Upper Queen Anne, Madison Park, Magnolia and Green Lake fit the bill and North of downtown Seattle like Amazon. You can find pockets in neighborhoods south of Amazon (West Seattle, Madrona, Seward Park) but more busy and good/bad neighborhoods closer to each other. If good public schools are important look to the East Side of Lake Washington - Kirkland, Bellevue and in the middle Mercer Island. Plenty of residential places, safe as can be and great schools. East side will feel like living in the burbs, while Seattle side neighborhoods I mentioned up top will still feel like you’re living in the city.
Also, if you’re used to San Jose and like that, then East Side will feel familiar. If you instead wish you lived in some of the neighborhoods in/around SF, then stay on Seattle side of the lake.
I live in the capital hill/central district and walk. Depending on where you are, it’s like 15-30 minutes to walk for a lot of this area. It’s great.
Ballard is a 20-30 minute bus ride from SLU
Belltown would be like a 20 min walk from SLU or like a 10 min walk from the new buildings in Denny Triangle

Everything around Amazon is not safe because of the tweakers but if you live in SF now then maybe you don't mind. Safe areas are on the east side but unless you're right on a bus line transit is probably more like 45-60min
No I am from San Jose. Which areas are on bus line transits?
You'll have to look at a map and find what's best for you. Every area is on a direct bus line. Some are just faster than others
