My first job I stayed for 4 years and just started a new role but I’m thinking about going for this Amazon job. But since I just started I’m thinking I should stay for a little while. How often do you all switch jobs?
How do you like Deloitte? I interviewed there and was really close to taking that job but went to CGI instead because they paid slightly more
It's a real good organization, huge and stable. The experience depends on your team as it is with any big company. Not sure what was the pay difference but if it was not that much, then you should've chosen a brand name over CGI as the exit options will fetch you more money. Nonetheless, I hope you're happy at CGI
I’ve switched jobs every 2 years, 5 jobs in 10 years. No ones questioned it. This is the new age, friend. You find what you want and you go for it.
On average every 2 years, I’ve been working for ~10 years. I left one company twice.
Left one company twice? Was there another company or two in between? Curious about your responsibilities in the first stint versus the second.
Whenever you feel you've improved a significant amount, get your skills appraised in the market; and take the rewards while sharing your skills with another company.
In the same company, you either grow or rest & vest.. otherwise change jobs because you're on thin ice anyways
6 times in 11 years and happy with it
MSFT is my fourth company in the last two years. I'm hoping I'll not change companies, for at least another two.
6 years in the previous job and now at Google for a little more than 2 years.
You should change job based on reasons rather than based on years. If you are growing in your current company, learning and have great colleagues then stay there. If you are highly underpaid, bad work environment, low growth opportunities or come across amazing opportunity, then think about changing.
Whenever there's a reason to. As we need a job, the company needs resources and if you have the right skill set no one cares. I changed 4 jobs in 10 years and no one has questioned me yet. May be I'm lucky :)
