How are things at Houzz?

Future outlook good? Culture? Is work life balance good or is it more like a sweatshop?

They seem snobbish

Roku brucewilis OP Feb 10, 2019

Based on what?

Apple 88812122 Feb 10, 2019

Heard that they have 2 year cliff for paper stock. Similar to amazon where you get paltry stuff for first 2 years

Roku brucewilis OP Feb 10, 2019

No way. Two year cliff on paper stock? Thatโ€™s crazy.

Glassdoor yyyyyyyyy Feb 10, 2019

It's a terrible company

Roku brucewilis OP Feb 10, 2019

Why do you say that? Evidence?

Glassdoor yyyyyyyyy Feb 10, 2019

Evidence ? Lol this is blind. I interviewed there and you can tell a lot by doing an onsite. Their interviewers seemed clueless and yet condescending. Aside from furniture recognition they're a boring e-commerce site (yes Glassdoor is too I know). I felt like it was a shitty company, you might think otherwise. Best of luck!

They recently laid off 180 people.

Roku brucewilis OP Feb 11, 2019

Wow really?

Houzz whsn Mar 20, 2019

Customer support people, mostly in Europe

Houzz PMjM15 Feb 11, 2019

The culture is really up beat and the prospects are great you just need to be clear about your goals from the offset

Is 2-yr cliff on stock real?

Houzz wowpuppy Feb 11, 2019

No. Standard 1yr.

Houzz jyuk50 Feb 11, 2019

Depends on the position you are interested in

Roku brucewilis OP Feb 11, 2019

Which positions are better?

Houzz lilbtybg Feb 11, 2019

Work life balance is good. It really depends on your position. I don't know a lot on the eng side but marketplace is not doing well, they recently cut over 300 people between q4 2018 and q1 2019. You'll be ok for the next year or so if you're in a sales for our industry solutions side because it's their current focus. If you want to be with a company when they go public I guess Houzz is a good opportunity. Btw, you won't get stock. They stopped giving it away 2-3 years ago.

No stocks? What you mean? What they give out instead?

Houzz lilbtybg Feb 11, 2019

Depends on the position but anything non eng or executive leadership you do not receive stocks. So nothing, just our fully stocked kitchen and paid health care!
